I purchased a similar Firewire from synch-charger from Semsons.com for a little bit less ($12.95 + shipping). There are also similar products available from other online retailers… I wonder who actually manufacturers these items?

I bought one of these retractable USB cables this week. I found that not only did it not charge the IPod, it rapidly dischargd it. I called the tech support folk at Seidio and the guy claimed that it was a mistake to claim it was a charging cable because a 5V USB connector cannot charge an IPod when there’s only a wire between the two devices. Anyone else heard anything along these lines?
