does this device work with other ipods too?

I think not, it seems to use the audio-jack input, like the dock that it comes with but without the cord.

Michael - I think that is the whole point - that is, so you don’t have to carry the dock around and the shuffle can also be used as a USB drive, which was one of the appealing features of the 1G Shuffle for many people.

The price point of $6 sounds pretty close to the mark for this item.

This add-on could become essential to the ipod shuffle line. I am surprised Apple didn’t release something like this. It makes the shuffle more portable.

Could I assume that using this adapter would also allow me to use the shuffle as a drive (disc use)?

Shawmaan-
You are currently allowed to use the shuffle for disk use. In the settings, it allows the user to decide how much is wanted for disk use and how much for music use. I assume this add-on would keep these settings available.

my first gripe is with the product description. 

“No need to haul around the Dock and cables that came with your iPod Shuffle”

haul around?  not even close.  dock and cables?  wrong again.

second, this accessory is pointless you can get a 1GB flash drive for this much (after rebate).

it doesn’t need to.  you would carry both.  just like you would be carrying both the shuffle and the adapter.

a point was brought up to me at head-fi.  charging.  that is the reason i could understand someone buying this, and for that it is overpriced.

The design philosophy we feel is a good one, being that we highly possibly were the ones to initiate it. I can’t believe so many are whining about a 6 dollar add on. I think it’s a great idea, and kudos for making it cheap.

What the hell does “We are also including a similar fail safe so that the KEY’s USB to stereo jack connection cannot be accidentally engaged with nothing other than the iPod, as does APPLE” mean, thoughtout?  Unfortunately, your product is 5 times the price of this, and supposedly won’t be out for a few months.  I don’t expect many people will want to shell out $22 for something that does the same thing as a $6 device, regardless of your marketing copy.

I think this product is great because you do not have to carry the docking station around.  The price is fair as well.  What I don’t like is that you cannot play music and charge like the previous shuffle.

Six bucks is too much? There are some really cheap souls posting in this thread. Damn, I’d be lucky to get a sandwich and drink from the deli downstairs for $6.

As for whether or not it’s actually worthy tech that really works, the buying public will find out soon enough, eh, thoughtout? Geez, I’d hate to have this thing eat into your profit margin…

there’s no description for the product from jetmall. Kind of shady. Besides shipping is like 8.50, so the total comes out to be a little more expensive
