Six week waiting list for iPod mini

“The Apple of my wife’s eye is a pink iPod mini. Nothing else for Mother’s Day would do. I was elated at her request. No painful tours of snooty jewelry stores. Just a quick stop at the big box electronics store and a $249 charge. I figured it would be the easiest Mother’s Day ever. I figured wrong.
Here’s what I learned about this business card-sized digital jukebox that stores up to 1,000 songs:
If you want to be assaulted by a humiliating burst of laughter, go to Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA or even Apple Computer’s own stores and ask for an iPod mini. Tell them you want it in pink and insist that you need it now. [...]
But you cannot buy one. You can only put your name on a six-week waiting list.”
Editor’s note: MacBidouille is reporting that the Apple Store Soho in NY has a new stock of iPod minis. Also, our forums report Circuit City has silver minis in stock. Call your local iPod mini resellers (Circuit City, Target, Fry’s, Best Buy, Apple Stores, etc.) and see if they have stock, you might be surprised. You could always try eBay, but you’ll pay inflated prices.

they are probably holding off sending out more mini’s as possible until they can fix the hardware problem with all the sound disortion issues people have been reporting.

She is spoilt if she asked him to return the iPod, especially after all the trouble he went to.

in the uk it is traditional to give your own mother a gift, its not so much about celebrating mothers in general. then again in the uk “mother’s day” is actually a real tradition, it is called “mothering sunday” and isnt just some made up holiday to sell extra cards by all those corporate whores.

I ordered my wife an iPod mini pink direct from Apple on April 12, was given an estimate of May 17, and was given a shipping confirmation on May 10. I need it for our wedding anniversary on May 29. So about 4 weeks from Apple (engraved)
And please don’t bust my stones about why my wife (a mother as well) is getting a gift.
And us men need to learn to plan ahead

My college bookstore has 30 to 40 minis in stock… Blue/Green/Silver/Gold.
They’re for sale at the educational price, too… $229.
I could make a killing on eBay selling 5 or 10, ey???! :D eBay prices are $300-350.

but to honour your wife you shouldnt be celebrating the fact that she is a mother “oh thanks for having kids thats all youre good for” but rather the relationship you hold with her, thats what anniversaries are for when does your mother get thanks for being your mother. oh and by the way im sorry i didnt get your wife a present after all she is a mother….

giles, it is possible to honor both your wife and your mother on Mother’s Day. Please don’t criticize how other people choose to participate in their own traditions and whether these traditions are “real” or fake. Good grief. Why are we even discussing this? This is a story about the availability of iPod minis.

Giles- It’s obvious you haven’t had much female-experience whatsoever.
Cameron - That’s nothing…Two years ago when I was considering buying a Mercedes SL55AMG the wait was 2 YEARS!!!. I never got it.

haha real cool guys trying to insult my manhood. grow up. im serious ive had enough with these made up holidays, fathers day is a sham over here but mothering sunday is genuine. of course the americans not having any traditions lap up anything that is offered, pagan festivals, christian festivals, other countries saints days you name it, and that of course includes these made up days so the card shops dont go through a rough time of year.

Giles-
You make a valid point about the card companies benefiting from all the holidays we have in the States, but you really set yourself up for the flaming your getting.
How could you be so silly with your initial post?
If you don’t want anymore abuse, I suggest you don’t read anymore of the postings here… no one is gonna have a good thing to say about you, right now.
Do yourself a favor and just let it go.
