Six week waiting list for iPod mini

“The Apple of my wife’s eye is a pink iPod mini. Nothing else for Mother’s Day would do. I was elated at her request. No painful tours of snooty jewelry stores. Just a quick stop at the big box electronics store and a $249 charge. I figured it would be the easiest Mother’s Day ever. I figured wrong.
Here’s what I learned about this business card-sized digital jukebox that stores up to 1,000 songs:
If you want to be assaulted by a humiliating burst of laughter, go to Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA or even Apple Computer’s own stores and ask for an iPod mini. Tell them you want it in pink and insist that you need it now. [...]
But you cannot buy one. You can only put your name on a six-week waiting list.”
Editor’s note: MacBidouille is reporting that the Apple Store Soho in NY has a new stock of iPod minis. Also, our forums report Circuit City has silver minis in stock. Call your local iPod mini resellers (Circuit City, Target, Fry’s, Best Buy, Apple Stores, etc.) and see if they have stock, you might be surprised. You could always try eBay, but you’ll pay inflated prices.

THe ENglish are cowering behind the Yanks, too scared to stand up to them because they’re afraid of sanctions. SO they go off to war in the good old imperialist tradition that is centuries old. Their time is over, as they have been kicked out of the Middle East, India, Africa and everywhere else they have tried to colonize, as the racist terrorists they were. They belong to the past, and they should stay there

my initial post was only a confusion about how you celebrate “mother’s day”, seriously, but i stick by what i say about america. i’m not pro britain for everything and im not anti america for everything and i am not a racist unlike some of the people who have replied. anyway since when was this about war?

I feel ya man…I was thinking pink would be the easiest color to find….not trying to be discriminating or anything but I’d think the majority of the target audience would be men 15-35 (which probably is the case they just didn’t anticipate the surge of female consumers). Anyways I had no problem finding Green, Blue, Silver Minis in Detroit…But I can’t find a pink one to save my life….Ended up just ordering if from Apple.com…...ofcourse the scheduled ship date is 1 week after her birthday!!!! Hopefully I find one between now and then…
And btw I agree with you Giles on some of what you said….Ever heard of Sweetest Day (another made up mid-western holiday)....But I sure as hell know better then to not get your wife a mothers day present…and I have no wife/kids..

What’s all this nonsense about not being allowed to buy your wife a present on Mother’s Day? In the UK you buy a present as if it’s come from the child (if he/she is too young to buy one) hence it’s a gift from a child to a mother.
