“Software finds tunes you want to hear”

Matthew Daneman of the Democrat and Chronicle writes about Mitsunori Ogihara’s software that will “‘listen’ to songs and categorize them into specific genres and by emotional content.”

And the bastard is patenting it. That is it for software competition. It is not the better that wins out, but whichever gets patented first. God, I hate software patents.

Hopefully, it will be specific enough so that other methods (possibly even better ones) can be still implemented without being sued.

I really need to move away…
