Speck Products has introduced the Speck Shuffle Dock for charging and syncing your iPod shuffle with your computer. The $24.95 dock — which is $4 cheaper than Apple’s iPod shuffle Dock — works with both the 512MB and 1GB iPod shuffle models, and will begin shipping on May 6.
“Dock your Shuffle on your desk! The Speck Shuffle Dock provides a convenient and stylish stand and docking station for your iPod Shuffle. The perfect solution if your Shuffle won’t fit directly into your USB port — or if you’re just looking for an easier way to sync.”

better looking and cheaper than apple’s dock, but still not worth it until they can get at least a lineout on it.

what’s the point of the ‘storage area’ behind where the shuffle plugs in?
docs in general still seem so pointless to me. i think i’ve used an ipod doc once in the 2 years i’ve had them. now if someone were to make a combination doc for the full size ipod AND a shuffle, they’d have a better product.

It is nicer looking than Apple dock…
I think the point of the storage area is for earphones…
Some people do not have easy accessibilty to a USB port, that is one reason why someone would want a shuffle type of dock….

Enigma, does the shuffle even have line-out?

from my own experimenting, there is audio out through the extra terminals on the USB connector. I dont think it was line-level out, since it got louder as i increased the volume.
i also think theres an ipod shuffle fm transmitter assembly that only uses the usb connector, so there must be at least audio out

heres the airplay. it only connects via the USB connector, so there is audio out on the bottom

I guess you can toss the cap or lanyard back there… or pocket change, or paperclips
I know audiophiles are into line level output with real reason, but I often wish my Photo dock’s audio level WAS controlled by the wheel. Doing that on a shuffle dock should be no problem, and then the dock has a new use.

But does it hold paperclips, too?
