Speck Products has announced that it is now shipping its two FunSkins for the fifth-generation iPod. The Cloud FunSkin is a white rubberized “fluffy cloud of protection and fun,” while the Grass FunSkin offers a spiky grass-themed design in either green or black. The cases, which fit both the 30GB and 60GB iPod, come with a screen protector and a removable belt clip. The FunSkins retail for $35 each.

I like the case that looks like a chunky tire - is that available for the 5 G yet?

Maybe it’s me, but these seem awfully overpriced for the level of dorkiness someone pays for. iGuy’s pretty outlandish and for someone who wants to make a statement, seems more worth it. These two however, just seem increasingly tired and dumber with every rehash for subsequent iPod designs. At the VERY least I hope these are better designed than Speck’s 5G SkinTights; the top edge of the LCD opening on that stylized ‘bathroom mat’ skin (that’s the imagery its molded dots reminds me of) is SO poorly executed; for the life of me it will not lay straight, instead always arched upwards and exposing the edge of the screen protector—just looks chintzy and cheezy instead of smart or stylish.
Even the cheap and generic $5 20GB 4G skin from CompUSA that I used on my 60GB 5G after I took a utility knife to the LCD opening looks better than the SkinTight.
