STM has introduced a new version of its Cocoon case designed specifically for the iPod nano. The Cocoon offers two forms of protection—a silicone skin and a hard outer shell—that can be used together or separately. The silicone skin features a neck lanyard and screen protector, while the zip-up hard case, made from compressed EVA, offers a belt clip, soft inner lining, and a mesh pocket for earphones. The Cocoon for the iPod nano will be available in November for $35. “So whether you’re at the gym, doing housework or sipping cocktails by the beach, safeguard your iPod nano in an STM cocoon and silicone skin,” says STM.

You can pretty much do the same thing right now. I went to Best Buy and got the Lowepro digital camera removable media case for $7.99. It is just bigger than the nanno and both the Nano and ear phones fit perfectly. It has a really good velcro belt loop already. I use the ipod in the case everyday and no scratches. $7.99 plus tax. By the way Guitar Centers are selling UE Superfi 3 ear phones for $99. Comparable to Shure E3s for $179. I hope this helps someone.

I agree with bones. $35 for this case is way too much. The Lowepro series are of excellent quality and do the exact same job for under $10.

I think the price is $35 Australian dollars.

AU$35 would be good. I bought the Cocoon for my 4th Gen last Christmas and it was AU$50. It’s worth it though, considering iSkins go for the same price. You get a sleeve and then the hard case. My cocoon only came with a plastic sleeve (good to see they’re doing silicone now though) which I keep my iPod in all the time. Then when I put my iPod into a bag I can put it into the hard cocoon and know it’s safe in that shell.
Assuming this is similar to the other Cocoons from STM I’d highly recommend it.
