Ten One Design has introduced the SoundClip, a new passive sound enhancer for the iPhone 3G. Made from a single piece of plastic, the SoundClip attaches to the Dock Connector, and is designed to direct sound from the iPhone’s built-in speaker towards the user. In addition to serving as a port protector, the device also prevents a user’s hand from inadvertently covering the speaker during activities such as gaming, and attaches to the iPhone’s sync cable when not in use. According to the company, SoundClip amplifies iPhone audio by 10dB between 5kH and 20kHz, and improves frequency response, as well. Ten One Design’s SoundClip for iPhone 3G is available now and sells for $8.

Seems stupid to me.
Enhancing ONE of TWO channels?
Not what I’d call an audiophile idea.
*Getting that the iPhone is not an audiophile unit. You get my point.

Actually, i encounter this problem alot when playing games on the iPhone, most notably rolando. although $8 USD may be pushing it a bit… oh well, just wait for all the asian knockoffs to turn up.

Not quite sure what the previous poster means by ONE of TWO channels? I know most of the sound being emitted from the iPhone will be in stereo, however, the iPhone only has ONE speaker, and that’s where this device attaches to. So, technically it is “enhancing” the overall sound. Enhancing should be used lightly here.
To be honest, it’s not a bad idea, however $8 for this is a little much. An even $5 sounds about right.

I bought a SoundClip last week and it is a marked improvement on the overall sound, sound direction and treble frequencies. The 2 grills on the bottom of the iPhone at the charging port are what “sb” is possibly referring to. The left grill is the speaker and the right grill is the microphone according to the manual!

Yeah, the iPhone has 2 openings on the bottom but one is a microphone and the other is a speaker so the others were right. Just cover the left opening with a finger and you’ll mute it to see what I mean.

#4 - so we all have ONE speaker. Maybe you got ‘hosed’?...
