The iPod is an American icon

Rolling Stones magazine has named the iPod an American icon in its 35th Anniversay issue (on newstands now). The iPod is joined by; Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, The Backstage Pass, The Dead Rock Star, The Blonde Bombshell and Homer Simpson.

“For more than thirty-five years, Rolling Stone has documented the people, inventions and images that define our times. Some endure, others vanish, but a few make such a profound human connection it is impossible to imagine what life was like without them. Instantly recognizable, venerated and inimitable, here are some of the icons that have transformed our world.”
“‘Well, we shouldn’t show this to you, because it’s only a prototype,  but here it is . . .” and they handed me the first-ever iPod. I couldn’t get my hands off of it. Now you can’t imagine music any other way.’ - Moby
