Thought Out has introduced its new Stabile stand for the iPad. Weighing nearly four pounds, the Stabile stand is made from a single piece of solid steel, and works with iPads in both horizontal and vertical case, whether they’re bare or encased. Other features include a split back design for cable management, a 55 degree viewing angle, protective padding on the iPad rest, and anti-slip feet on the bottom. Thought Out’s Stabile stand for the iPad is available for pre-order now in black or silver and will ship in June for $60 and $70, respectively.

I’ll wait for your review. I bought a Luxa2 H4 iPad stand that is somewhat similar, and while I’m sure it would work fine with the iPad naked, when the iPad is in Apple’s Case it doesn’t work very well. The way the Apple Case is designed the edges are squishy and so the movable arms don’t grip very well. Plus the iPad doesn’t lie quite flat when the case cover is folded behind it. Just ends up being wobbly and not stable. I think something like this is a great idea, but I’ll wait for your review in this category.

Kind of a bummer that it’s not at all adjustable. But I guess that would interfere with the stability.
