TIME ranks iLounge in 50 Best Websites

“If you’re one of the millions of consumers who now seem permanently attached to an Apple iPod, here’s your home base. Get the full run-down on all the device’s available accessories or head to the Forums to swap tips and tricks. If you recently acquired one of these portable digital music players, iPod 101 (see Articles) offers a primer. The site is independently run.”

We don’t typically like to toot our own horn, but we’re quite proud to have been listed in TIME’s 50 Best Websites (alternately called “50 Coolest Websites”), with special mention given to our fantastic community. It’s been a long journey since our humble beginnings in 2001, but three iPod generations (and a mini) later, the iLounge community now has over 23,000 members.

Thank you for making iLounge the largest and most notable iPod community on the Internet.

How cool can this site really be if it filters out the word G A Y from its forums? I really do like this site but i’d hate to think its homophobic.

dorm dude,
We are not homophobic. We welcome everybody, no matter what their gender, race or sexual orientation.
The subject of the forum word filter has been raised before and our reasons have been explained. It has been discussed by PM with members who have probably more reason to ask why and they have accepted the explanation we have given.
