Tunewear today announced a new silicone case for 4G iPods. Compared to traditional silicone cases, the ICEWEAR series uses the same silicone found in diving masks which allows for both scratch protection and a clear view of the iPod’s original color. The ICEWEAR series design allows access to all ports including the headphone jack, dock connector, hold switch and click wheel. Shock absorbing ribs on the sides not only serve to protect the iPod during falls, but they also function as a grip for the iPod when held in your hand or when placed on most any surface. The ribs also glow the iPod when held in the light. The new ICEWEAR 4G will retail for $24.95 and will be available worldwide in September.

Damn, I already ordered an evo2, but this one looks MUCH better.. This is exactly what I wanted, a strong and SIMPLE looking case that won’t hide or change the shape of the ipod.

Ding ding, ding. We have a winner! If it looks as good as the one on the mini, then that is the case for me.

i hope they make this case for the 3G too. I stopped using my other silicone cases because they were too thick and changed the appearance of the ipod too much.

The case looks great, but it doesnt protect the screen. I think i’m still gonna go woth the iskin. It would have been great with a screen protector.

You can always use a PDA screen protector. They work great.

I used i PDA screen protector, but i think a harder shell over the screen is the better choice.
More silicone around the edge of the screen doesnt provide any extra protection. A hard shell over the screen, i think, is the better choice.

Why the heck won’t Apple get off their rear and produce a decent case that comes with the iPod?
