Twitter has announced that it has teamed with Apple on a new feature that allows Ping users to link their Twitter accounts to Apple’s social music network. According to a blog post from Twitter’s Kevin Thou, once a Ping is account is linked with Twitter, every Post, Like, and Review will also be tweeted on the user’s Twitter account, along with playable song previews and links to purchase and download music from iTunes. The post also notes that iTunes song previews are available on Twitter.com in the 23 countries where the iTunes Store offers music; to link your Twitter account with Ping, simply access Ping from iTunes and click the link that appears at the top of your activity page. How about if Apple/Crapple worries less about sh*t like this and more about releasing the newest version of iTunes (I.e., 10.1) when it should have been released, such as YESTERDAY! For f*^k’s sake, it was ready for release 3 frigging weeks ago!

Twitter is the poor man’s Facebook. I thought Apple wanted to create their own, unique, networking experience - not merging together with the competition.

No sense reinventing the wheel. Integrating Ping with other services makes both more useful.

I think this will work out to be a better alliance for Apple than they would have had with Facebook. Facebook, Myspace, and even Buzz can be updated from Twitter. This means the potential to reach all of the primary social networks with a single Tweet or Ping is certainly there.
