U2 iPod arrives in stores - photos inside

picApple’s iPod U2 Special Edition ($349.00) is now available for purchase in bricks-and-mortar Apple Stores, and iLounge has exclusive first pictures of the newest iPod’s packaging and pack-ins. Our full gallery will go up shortly, but for now, click on Read More for a collection of eleven shots to tide you over.

Shipments of the U2 iPod to fulfill Apple Store online pre-orders commenced several days ago, with anticipated delivery dates over the next several days. As noted in our earlier news stories and the iLounge Buyers’ Guide 2004, each U2 iPod includes a $50 coupon towards the purchase of The Complete U2, a digital box set of U2 music from iTunes, and a fold-out poster including photographs of the band. Other than its packaging, black casing, red Click Wheel and band-engraved back, the U2 iPod is the same as a 20GB fourth-generation iPod, and includes standard white accessories.

looks about 50 times better than that white and gray abomination they call an ipod 4g.

It looks better in the actual pictures here than in Apple’s promo pictures. It’s quite striking actually.

If you dont like U2, dont get it. because once you have the coupon off your hand, you may end up buying the complete U2, which costs a lot.

The glossy black does look really nice—not like your average black electronics. It appears to be black-under-clear like the normal iPod/iMac/eMac are white-under-clear.

Protect it from scratches though!

So cool. I would have no use for the U2 theme, though, as I’m not a fan. The iPod itself looks incredible. I want one.

That’s the ugliest piece of sh*t I’ve seen in ages.  The colour scheme is right up there with the A-Team van.  So so ugly, and worse than that, you get vouchers for U2’s back catalogue?  *shiver*  No thanks.

Why not “iPod special edition”?

Posted by jimlat on November 17, 2004 at 4:28 AM (CST)

I think someone in the Fourms noted this as being the A-Team iPod. (e.g. the Black and Red match the Van used by that ‘80s TV Show.) So yeah I’d like one on that note. Signed by all the Cast Members of the A-Team. Hell Yeah! Who wouldn’t want an iPod signed by Mr. T!

You’d have to be a FOOL!! not to like it!

i’d like it so much more if it were all black with red button options. it’d look a bit more discreet. i’m still debating on sending mine off to colorware to have them paint mine like that.

I still don’t get why people don’t like the look of the regular 4G.

The U2 comes with the Apple stickers (like the photo) I feel ripped off now! ;)

And if the $149 collection is really the “Complete U2” then does that mean they won’t make any new songs after this new album?

If they make a new song then that $149 is no longer “complete”!

So, what’s wrong with the A-Team?

Posted by Quoth_the_Raven in Herndon, VA on November 17, 2004 at 10:47 AM (CST)

Thay Ned, whatsss wrong, not passstel enough for you?

I dont get it, why ship a black iPod with a red wheel that looks cool with white earphones, remote, charger, and the rest of the wires and accessories that come with it?  Also I think the U2 iPod will look like crap when using the backlight, seeing how it has a blue cast which gives you a stunning black and red with a odd chrome backing and blue screen…..yuck.  I think Apple should have taken a little more time to develop this iPod.  I’ll keep my 3rd gen and bum all the U2 songs via my two buds that are huge U2 fans thank you very much.

Yikes…well irez makes some awesome points…I just got mine in the mail and I love it. the white accressories comment is so true!
I am pissed that even though it came with the clear plastic cover over the screen there is still a 1/2” scratch…
