In what we believe to be a first for the iPod accessory industry, a company called Uniea is beginning to promote a new iPod case for a model that hasn’t been officially announced or even more than indirectly confirmed yet by Apple. The case, described as the U-Suit Hard Protective Leather Case for New iPod, features a soft leather exterior, hard plastic interior with scratch-resistant inner lining, and a front hole sized for a roughly 2.3-inch screen and iPod nano-sized Click Wheel.

The U-Suit case is priced at $30 with an as-yet-unknown date of availability. It is believed to be for the smaller video-ready iPod that was the subject of last week’s “spy shot” leaks and subsequent take-down requests from Apple.

Tim, while I agree that the new squat iPods are meant to replace the 5.5s (just as the Nano replaced the Mini), your assertion regarding drive space isn’t realistic. While video will be available for these iPods, the form factor isn’t optimal for video viewing when compared to the iPhone. I would expect these to have the 8 and 16 GB flash drives so the user can load lots of songs and the occasional video.
The Touch looks to be the new high-end music and video player, with the ability to play HD (720p) widescreen video. The size of these files will necessitate the use of high-capacity storage, and this is what will differentiate the Touch from the iPhone. While I’m hoping for 80 and 160GB, it’ll probably be 80 and 120.
And, getting this back on track, U-Suit is in BIG trouble. Next year at this time, they’ll be getting the product specs off the box when it’s sitting on the shelf, and not a moment sooner.

Maybe, just maybe, this is the the iPod that has got wi-fi. The screen might be so big that its touch or maybe there is something inside the design that brings out a stylus. Or what I am hoping, that everything stays the same, becuase I want a U2 iPod.

fugly ugly.
Love my iPhone, but Apple needs to OPEN IT UP TO DEVELOPERS.
Stop making the same mistakes again. OPEN IT UP NOW!
Haven’t you learned by this time?

These are definitely fake; They have no Uniea
logo on them. and notice the size of the corners of the case, it looks like who ever made these just modified a picture of the Uniea iPhone case.

Who is gonna buy the 4/8 GB flash ipod? I would not. Think about the 80GB video ipod. I rather have a 100GB or 120GB ipod to store songs, movies, TVs, photos, contacts, etc.

It’s not fake. Period. The pictures came directly from a Uniea sales brochure, a thumbnail of which has now been added to the original story.

I bet this gets Uniea a lot of hits on its website. And I imagine that’s the aim - they don’t have specs, they’re just speculating and garnering attention for their products.

I don’t think this is real, I just went over to their site and it did not have anything like this posted on their site.

Hello - look at the colors. I mean brown? Are you sure these are not for the next Zune which is bound to be an ugly copy of the new Nano.

We may all be proven wrong here, but I think the likely scenario is that each remaining/surviving class of iPod will receive a tweak, an upgrade but there will not be one iPod with all the features (earlier speculation focused on whether the new iPod video will be touch-screen/full-screen AND wi-fi.
I think it will be one or the other and likely the first and the new Nano will have wifi. After all, Apple does not want to jeopardize sales of the iPhone and also flash memory is too expensive to offer more than 10-20 gigs at a time using that. Remember, the iPhone is a loss-leader for Apple. AT & T subsidizes it with your contract and unlocked it might cost $200 more. I hd heard a 30 gig full screen iPod with a hard-drive and the Nano will get the wifi capability but if you want wifi and full screen, there is still only the iPhone. After all, it’s still only 2-3 months since it came out, so typically too soon to see many of the features on a non-iPhone device (at a much cheaper cost). Apple will try to keep pricing the way it is or lower it but offering too many features or large flash memory will not allow a huge profit center. Even with iTunes, Apple does not sell iPods at a loss to get you to use iTunes. Everything is profit-motivated. Hey, I’d like to be pleasantly surprised or even shocked but let’s be realistic. Any other hopes or expectations are simply pie-in-the-sky dreams.
