Warner exec: Labels could cut off iTunes Music Store [updated]
Warner Music Group digital strategy chief Michael Nash said today that the major record labels could easily cut off the iTunes Music Store if Apple CEO Steve Jobs doesn’t budge in the song pricing battle.
“What if Jobs says 39 cents or 29 cents per download—what then?” Nash asked during a panel discussion at the CTIA Telecomms Show. “The industry can say, OK we’ll cut him off—very few people people buy music from digital downloads.” The music executive said Jobs will have to find another way to help sell iPods. “[Jobs] will figure out another model,” he said.
Nash also said that the music industry has let Apple get away with too much dominance in paid digital downloads. “The industry got together and said ‘We don’t want another MTV’. Well, now we’ve got another MTV, in Apple. And we have to deal with it,” he said.
Update: The Register has now corrected its story, saying that it wrongly attributed the remarks to Nash. “These remarks were made by another panelist, Kenneth Hertz, partner at Goldring Hertz and Lichtenstein LLP, a law firm representing major recording industry artists,” the site now says.

Only in your backwards, inbred wetdreams, Talking Madness. Remember what I said before about two types of people in the world? Those that are equal to me, and those that are beneath me? You’re of the second group, you loser, you.

Oh and the iTMS sells the songs at 128 not 192, you #####.

Talking Madness-
By the way, it’s been fun debating with you. Just so you know, I see your perspective, especially since I don’t dally much at all with iTMS.

My mistake, Jack. Is it really 128k AAC? That must be why the sound so bad.

You can parade all the so-called “unbiased surveys you want in front of me. None of them matter.
Do you believe in “intelligent design” as well? What are you, like, 12 years old?
And getting away from your weird rantings, back to the matter at hand:
http://www.businessweek.com/technology/content/sep2005/tc20050929_4235_tc056.htm
As it turns out, iTunes is already pricing some items higher than others. Look carefully, and you’ll find occasional examples of albums priced at $11.99, $13.99, or $6.93. Clearly not all albums are created equal on iTunes. Some have fewer songs, some are incomplete, some are double albums and sell for $19.99

Talking Madness:
They sound better than anything you’ve got. You truly ARE an idiot.
Demosthenes:
Try quite a bit older than that, fool. I’m arrogant because I DESERVE TO BE. And, as far as “weird rantings,” that would be YOU with all your so-called “legitimate” surveys.
Partial albums have plagued the iTMS from the beginning, and albums—depending on whether they are compilations, “Best Of"s, boxed sets, or if they’re just plain older than most—have been priced differently for quite a while. Where have YOU been? My problem is raising the price of the individual songs themselves. I also have a problem with the increasing number of albums that have songs on them that cannot be bought individually. Instead, a person must buy the WHOLE album, which is ridiculous. All songs should be sold INDIVIDUALLY and they should be NO HIGHER THAN 99 CENTS. PERIOD. NO DEBATE. Oh, and you (and B.M., I mean T.B., NO, I mean T.M.) should
cut out the smug attitude. It doesn’t suit either of you. It suits me, but not you two.

I’m arrogant because I DESERVE TO BE.
You’ve displayed no evidence of this. You claim that your ears are better than everyone else’s, but you can’t prove it. You also seem to be very lacking in knowledge of how lossy compression actually works. Your attempts at condescension are, well, less than condescending. In fact, your grasp of English seems to be quite poor, and you have trouble expressing yourself without profanity. If indeed you are older than 12, then that’s even sadder, because usually most people gain some wisdom and experience with age. Most people.
Perhaps you have personally invested too much time in ripping your CD collection to AAC that you can’t bear the thought that you might have been peeing into the wind.
Smart people rip to a lossless format, then transcode to a DAP-specific suitable codec and bitrate on device synch, or with a batch process. Of course, iTunes won’t do this automatically, so you may have to invest in better software.
But if and when you do, you will find that with your entire collection ripped to lossless, you really have very little personally invested in a particular format. You can afford to leave your ego behind and concentrate on the merits of each process.
There is still hope for you. Then again, I am an eternal optimist.

Demosthenes: You truly are a fool. Of course you would not recognize condescension or a good grasp of English. You’re retarded. The only sad thing here is that a true loser like you continues to rally against me, when I’ve told you continually (and if you any intelligence, let alone BASIC COMMON SENSE you would have realized for yourself) that YOU CANNOT BEAT ME. You’re lame. You’re attempts at “comebacks” are LAME. Keep telling yourself that you actually might know something. Only you and your little butt-puppet buddy T.M. believe it. You’re not in the position to be lecturing me on ANYTHING. You’re beneath me, just like T.M..

Jack-
I love you, brother. You make me laugh day in and day out. Half the time I actually think you believe the stuff you’re saying, but I know you’re too smart to believe you own arguments.
I’m still perplexed as to who exactly you are. You’re beating this one notion to death and I like seeing you go down in flames…sad to see, but I do like it.
Anyhow, I hope you have a nice weekend and maybe a new topic will inspire us to debate further.

YOU CANNOT BEAT ME. You’re lame.
Words of Advice for Young People
You all know the type—no matter how good it sounds, everything they have anything to do with turns into a disaster. Trouble for themselves and everyone connected with them. A fool is bad news, and it rubs off—don’t let it rub off on you.
Do not proffer sympathy to the mentally ill; it is a bottomless pit. Tell them firmly, “I am not paid to listen to this drivel—you are a terminal fool!” Otherwise, they make you as crazy as they are.

Demosthenes: You keep trying to say something and all that comes out is “BABBLE-BABBLE-BABBLE-RAMBLE-RAMBLE.” You’re lame. You’re attempts at comebacks are lame. You’re tired and boring. As far as being “mentally ill,” that would be you for not realizing after all this time that you’re in a situation with an opponent (me) that you simply cannot defeat (and WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO DEFEAT). You’re a loser, plain and simple.
Talking Madness: Demosthenes’s gay little butt-puppet until the very end is what you are. Neither of you can “hang,” as they say. You can’t come up with a decent reply to save your lives. As far as “going down in flames,” that would be you and your little low-life f a g g o t lover, Demosthenes.
To the both of you: You’ve lost. Accept it. You’ll ALWAYS lose when you go up against me. Period. BTW, I’m gone for a couple of days, and your gay little pats on each other backs and discussions of mental illness are the best you can come up with? You truly are a couple of jokes with very sad punchlines. Get a life, you two.
