Website uses iPod as ‘modern message in a bottle’
60gbroundtheworld.com is a new project that will send a 60GB iPod across the globe, from person to person, to collect random content until it finally returns back to the site’s owner. “60gbroundtheworld.com is a project, using a black iPod as a modern kind of a message in a bottle,” the site explains. “This iPod collects exciting content (photos, voice-messages, etc.) throughout his journey. Meanwhile, there’s a white iPod everbody’s invited to fill with some content via internet. As soon as both iPods are full, 60gbroundtheworld.com will present the iPods’ content doing a round-the-world-tour!” [via TUAW]

If this won’t work with the elementary game “telephone,” it won’t work for adults tempted to delete everything on it and fill it with junk. Lame.

This is a stupid idea. Why would you need to us a iPod, it will be stolen by the 3rd person to use it! Ending its journey.

I agree. We won’t see the end of this project… it will get ‘lost’ in it’s travels.
That, or it will make it’s way thru a few hundred peoples hands around germany, maybe a neighboring country or two, but not ‘around the world’.

If he has this planned with a bunch of friends in different countries, that might work. But to completely different people, no way it will get back in his hands.
