Three Product Winners Announced

Prize: Rain Design iWoofer

Most Accurate Description? I’ll try.

It is:
- an iPod dock with speakers and lights
- seen from below
- facing right (in the picture)
- approximately 5 inches in diameter
- iPod’s signature white and silver colors
- meant to showcase the iPod, like many of Rain’s other products are designed to showcase Apple products

It has:
- four legs to elevate it about 1 inch.
- four blue LEDs to create a cool under-glow effect
- some similarities to JBL’s OnStage, except better
- a port on the back (left in picture) for computer-to-iPod cable
- volume controls

It does not have:
- bluetooth
- a remote

It’s a simple iPod docking/speaker station that allows the iPod to play music through the built-in speakers, sync to a computer, and charge its battery. The iPod sits on top, allowing full access to its menus and music. And the ambient blue glow from beneath gives it a sleek futuristic look.

By jays1n on 12.20.05 at 03:09 PM

Its a speaker system for the ipod viewed from the underneath. The blue light is projected onto whatever surface it is placed on and may dim in and out or change colors while playing music or synching with itunes. Has four metalic legs and the controls are on the left side of the image in between the 2 metalic circles which are speakers. The black center is the sub-woofer. Charges, syncs, docks, and plays the ipod.

As the compnay mainly produces stands, it would be probable that its first product for the iPod is also a stand. It’s in the shape of a ball, and then it has four legs underneath, and you stick the iPod into the dock on top (in the middle - so it sticks up). But that’s obvious. It is also a powerful speaker system with a built-in sub-woofer. We see the air-intake on the lefthand side, and the big, dark area in the middle is the subwoofer element, probably a 6? or 8?. It will be awesome, and I can’t wait to get my hands on one.

This ipod dock is not just any ordinary dock, as you can tell from every ones guesses. This iPod dock, has a motorized docking door system. Just place your iPod on the white pad, located on the side, and hidden doors will come out and wrap around the iPod docking it for you.
But thats not all this little puppy can do. Not only can this device recharge and sync your dock-able iPod, it can also use its two built in speakers to fill, your room with music. But what if you have the Apple Express Base Station with AirTunes, it will allow you to connect to your Wi Fi base station, to broad cast your music through out your house. Or if you have a pare of Bluetooth enabled headset, the base station will also connect to those for personal use.
The system has four blue LED’s that indicate the systems status; Power/charging, data syncing, audio broadcasting, and VC. VC? What the heck is VC, you may ask your self. Well with all this functionality, comes the simplicity of only one button. Thats right only ONE button, that simply turns the device on and off. But you control every function of this device via Voice Command. Just say the name of your iPod when its docked, and then speak what you want the dock to do, and it will do it.

So just when you thought that, they went to the extent of iPod technology, they make something even better.

To me, it looks like its the bottom of a speaker system that would be in the shape of a rain drop when you looked at it straight on. The system looks held up on four legs, which give it support to sit on a surface. An ipod, probably the new video ipod will be able to dock on the top of the rain drop, and play music through the speakers on the sides and the subwoofer on the bottom. On the side bottom of the rain drop there will be a usb port and variuos other ports such as audio and video which will allow you to connect it to any t.v. device. I think the blue lights on the bottom of the drop will flash to the beat and rhythm of the music producing an underglow affect on whatever surface the rain drop is placed.

it’s an alien speaker system with builtin subwoofer. I think it’s an ipod speaker dock with a deep crevice in the center, leaving just the LCD screen of the ipod protruding from top.

I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to say it’s a speaker system.  I’m also going to go with a Bluetooth interface (hence the blue lights?), possibly for additional speakers that aren’t shown in the picture, but maybe just for Mac connectivity.  With a dock port on this accessory, the Bluetooth could be for syncing to iTunes for Bluetooth enabled Macs.

If I was going to strech the imagination a bit, I’d love to think that it is a stand-alone Bluetooth speaker system that could wirelessly link to a Bluetooth enabled iPod that Apple is releasing at MacWorld San Francisco.  That’s where this accessory is being announced so maybe Rain Designs has some inside information (although it’s not typical of Apple to leak the specifications of an unannounced product).  But one would have to imagine that there is a reason that Apple started integrating Bluetooth 2.0+EDR into recent Macs.  The performance of Bluetooth 2.0+EDR makes sense as the standard interface to a new, wireless iPod so I figure it’s only a matter of time.  Imagine the possibilities…..

It’s obviously an iTurtle!
You can clearly see a dock on the “left” of the picture and we are looking at the turtle from the bottom. The four legs are holding it up. I bet that from the top it’s a shiny and smooth white surface (with perhaps button controls) that’s like the back of the turtle and when you dock the ipod on the left it’s at an angle a bit upwards, turtles head. Considering all your other products are related to mac computers excluding the mac mini I bet you can place a mini in the iTurtle’s belly and carry it around that way. The turtle probably has a battery to power the ipod dock and mini inside it.

It is a four-legged iPod docking station/speakers and the blue lights will pulse in time to whatver music is being played (except maybe Slayer or Napalm Death)

Yo, looks like another cool design from rain, so heres what I’ve come up with…. from what I can see of the design, I’m sure there is a CD drive, so I’m thinking an iPod docking station (wireless perhaps?)with remotely controlled abilty, but it has the function of being able to rip CD’s/DVD’s straight onto your iPod video, but it’s also a central speaker unit, , with a clear glass centre part in which you can see the subwoofer speaker for bass, which is coloured by the blue lights. It also contains several smaller speakers for superior sound quality, a blue pulsating light which you can change the colour of at the touch of a bottom, stainless steel legs for maximum strength and design. It also has the ability to play music from your iPod wirelessly, via vbluetooth, all you need to do is plug in the bluetooth transmitter to the firewire/USB port on your ipod and click play, again, you can control the volume levels and equalizer settings by the remote control. I know its a long shot, but hey!

A sleek iPod acessory for anyone serious about style.  Not only a dock but a full speaker solution for your iPod the iDome delivers remarkable sound quality in a compact space.  A subtle ambiant blue light makes the iDome appear to hover off the ground.

What is it ?

It appeas to be the bottom of the device, possible a down firing speaker similar to the Altec Lansing ATP series speakers.  The downfiring speaker would generate all around sound.  The lights would make for a great light show as the music played.  The device looks like it has 4 silver feet to it, so it would sit on a desk or table.

I believe it is a speaker/stand for the ipod. The image above is a bottom view. There are buttons on the left. There are four legs on the bottom. The iPod sits on top surrounded by the four blue lights, which might change color and blink to the music. It might serve as a dock/charger as well.

I believe this is a new watch accessorie for the IPOD the sides are black because it hasa black watch band and the four bleu lights are the lights on each side of the watch,  the 15th 30th 45th and 60th minute of an hour.

Seems like a friendly iPet for the iPod.  It would walk toward you on those itty bitty legs.  It feeds on music from your iPod.

Or it’s just a really beautiful tabletop speaker system for your iPod.

I believe this is an ipod charging dock with speakers and the bottom would be a subwoofer with treble speakers surrounding the ipod on top. The four blue LED lights possibly pulse to the music that is playing through the speaker system.
