Apple has posted details for 31 winners of the iTunes Music Store 100 Million song giveaway, including previously announced grand prize winner Kevin Britten of Hays, Kansas (who purchased Zero 7 and Dangermouse’s “Somersault”) and a wonderfully eclectic collection of other people, locations, and song choices. Notably missing from the list at this time: winners from outside the United States, winning details for entries such as 99,200,000, 99,400,000, 99,600,000, and more.

Interesting that no winners were from the ‘Tell a friend’ option. Hmmm.

Ha!
It’d be funny if they just made up the winners to seem authentic.

Hey, just wanted to state for the record, the town’s name is Hays, KS. There is no “e” in the name. I go to college in Hays, and am in the same major as Kevin. I sent Apple some feedback on getting that fixed, but it probably got lost in the many emails I am sure they get.

They definitely didn’t make up the winners. I was one of the first few to win. It took a week to be notified that I actually had won, but it’s really exciting! Too bad I took myself out of the running for the computer, but I am *definitely* not complaining!!

I doubt there are a lot of “tell a friend” winners, if any at all. Besides the fact you can buy 10 or more songs in a few seconds versus sending maybe about 10 emails a minute. There appeared to be a delay in the iTunes email system of about 4 to 12 hours.
One other quirk noticed during the contest. The song count on the apple.com was about one and a half minutes slower than the german, uk and france sites, which apparently aided in more US wins.

Jmoore: It will say that until you tell your computer to “eject” the iPod safely. If you’re on a Mac, drag the desktop iPod icon to the trash can; on a PC, look in the bottom right corner for a picture of a memory card with an arrow (Safely Remove Hardware) and right click to eject the iPod. Follow those menus.

We don’t really know how many of the winners bought the songs listed and how many are tell a friend winners—I’m sure that tell a friend winners are listed with the song they clicked to tell a friend about.

fossicker, the tell a friend feature only works by artist or album not by song.
