Wired: ITunes Undermines Social Security

“As if it weren’t hard enough to be cool already, Apple Computer has introduced a new way for people to ruin their social standing.

Thanks to the ability of Apple’s iTunes to share music collections over local networks, it is now possible to judge someone’s taste in music—or lack of it—in a way that previously required a certain level of intimacy.”

you’re so feisty.  are you threatened?  i know, i know…. how dare us lowly mac users have any programs available on our platform.  it’s such a crime isn’t it, all these evil programs keeping us from crossing over to wintel.  if it weren’t for them, we’d all switch to a pc and we’d have our choice of 8 million different word processing programs… though we’d use the one bill forces on us and his “open” platform.

“Where are they?”

i’ve told you once, i won’t repeat myself.

“What are they called?”

i’ve already told you where to find them, do you need a wizard to walk you through the process of finding them?

better pay attention, you’re gonna over cook the fries.

Boxy, you are still blowing hot air and haven’t managed to type a single name that might rescue your credibility.

Google searches on “osx streaming audio”, “osx internet radio” and so on produce lots of hot air about Microsoft Media Player and Quicktime. Are these what you mean?

You’re talking to a Unix guy here Boxy, in case you didn’t get the “BSD” reference, so I don’t care what hangups you have about MIcrosoft.

But I do recognise when someone has no facts to back themselves up with.

Who cares?  gay, straight, black, white, democrat, republican, mac user, pc user, ipod, iriver…..........we’re all different and thats what makes us unique!!!  Hurray for uniqueness!!!!

Oh, “Box”, just stop it…........you’re losing this debate baby.  I’ve been keeping track.

“Boxy, you are still blowing hot air and haven’t managed to type a single name that might rescue your credibility.”

yes, but i really seem to be getting under your skin… and that’s far more entertaining than proving myself to you.

“Google searches”

are you that dense?  i told you where to find them if you’re really that interested.  go read my earlier posts, there is no mention of google.  i refuse to hold your hand.  if you want the info, you can find it.

“You’re talking to a Unix guy here Boxy,”

oooh, well glory be, you’re a unix guy.  i’m quite impressed.  let me bow before your greatness, oh lord of the command line.

“in case you didn’t get the “BSD” reference, so I don’t care what hangups you have about MIcrosoft. “

i got it, but my comments really seem to stir you up, so why stop.

“But I do recognise when someone has no facts to back themselves up with.”

i recognize when someone can’t find what’s been laid out before them.

this is fun.

your turn.

Calm down box checker.  Seems you’re more hyped about this than anybody in here.  At the end of the day, does it really matter??  My point exactly.

I just checked VersionTracker and most of the “choices” blow. Buggy, alpha/beta, or video-focused and/or Quicktime only.

I guess iTunes sharing *is* the best thing to happen to Mac music shares in a long while.

finally, someone that can read.  congrats, jorge.  maybe you can give unix boy a couple lessons.

as for the software, you may be right, it might blow.  i wouldn’t know, as i don’t broadcast anything cuz my bandwidth is often too saturated to attempt broadcasting and i haven’t tried any of the programs listed.  but, my point stands that mac users do have the option to use icecast/shoutcast/live365/quicktime/etc like those using windows.  however, with all the excitement surrounding itunes and it’s sharing feature coming from windows users lately, i would have to guess it’s the best thing to hit windows shares too.

it’s been fun guys and gals, but it’s time to head home.  i dedicate my first guinness this evening to everyone here, even unix box.

yeh, does it really matter? is it worth arguing about? if your that bothered about people making judgments about you cos of your music collection, just dont share it. itunes only undermines social security if u let it…therefore its not itunes’ fault, see wot i mean?

Playlistism?  I believe it exists.  People never cease to prove how stupid they are.

Ridiculous.

that whole garbage about german techno in realtionship to mesh shirted nazi ######## is hard to believe.  Ridiculous how stupid people can get.  Nevertheless if someone wants to stereotype then do it right.  Don’t give ######## examples.
