XtremeMac today announced three new cases for the fifth-generation iPod. The MicroFlip ($40; black, brown, dark brown or saddle) is a leather flip-style case that features a belt clip and built in protection for the iPod’s screen and click wheel. The MicroFolio ($40; black, brown, dark brown or saddle) and MicroFolio Chic ($40; pink or white) are billfold-style leather cases with pockets for an ID or credit card and cash as well as screen and click wheel protectors. MicroFolio Chic offers the same internal design as MicroFolio and also features a tab closure and a removable carabiner. All three of the cases will begin shipping in two to three weeks.

XtremeMac needs to stop introducing new products so that it can ship existing products. I ordered a 5G 60GB MicroShield on December 15th, thinking that it would arrive by Christmas. Unfortunately, it has not yet shipped. (PowerSupport seems to be having similar problems.)

Can’t tell from the site, but i think the ipod slides in from the inside-that would make much better top protection, but it still may be placed in from the top… does anyone know? Hopefully they’ll send one to Ilounge…

Why don’t they just sell their leather ipod case, which is perfect, and retrofit it for the 5G ipods? Their original leather case is the best on the market and it is easy to remove!
