Syllabus: iTunes and the Technology Beyond MP3
Technology beyond mp3 is OGG. FREE, OPEN-SOURCE and overall better than AAC. Which is not free, or open-source.

MacSlash: BuyMusic.com Ripping Off Artists
Moreover, their music STARTS at 79 cents, BUT, the majority of it is 99 cents. Some albums even turn out to be more expensive than the equivalent on iTunes MS.
This is a total ripoff, filled with technical glitches, horrible technical support, and very little original ideas. If you read the fine print, you don’t technically BUY the music from them, all you are getting is a sub-license for it. The DRM requirements of the music are just terrible, and I have heard stories where it prevents the music from being played at all, unable to be transfered to even the NJBZ. I don’t know why the even bother to put DRM on the music. People could easily burn a CD out of it and rip it again. Just goest to show that all DRM does is prevent legit users of the product to be screwed out of something that they paid for.
This is simply a terrible site that deserves to fail.

iTrip illegal in UK
I was discussing this issue with a colleague this morning. She mentioned that the CD changer in the boot of their car (bought in the US) relays music to the in-dash stereo on 88.9MHz on the FM dial. They have been driving round the UK for 5 years and haven’t been hauled in front of a judge yet. So I suspect the chances of being nicked for operating an iTrip in the UK are essentially nil.

Windows: iPodSync 2.21 released
Like the iPod itself, this is an elegantly simple software program. This program actually worked flawlessly and without a hitch. An excellent tool.

You still can purchase it even if you live in the UK from the Griffen site right? There’s nothing stopping me from doing that right?

Plug an iSight into iPod and record video?
The concept of connecting and iSight to my iPod to take video is great. Let’s see why:
1) Poor college student who gets Apple discounts on iPod (but not iSight)
2) I cant justify spending $400 for a DV camcorder just to make a few projects with
3) It makes the devices have multiple purposes
How many MP3 players can tote they are fast enough to handle video recording?
Battery Life was mentioned, anyone notice Apple has a optional battery pack that plugs into the bottom of the iPod and has a pass-thru for the firewire cable?
As for the streaming, I wouldn’t expect it to be perfect. But, if it can do it at all, I’d like it to. I’d love to spend $149 for a camera that can be used as a stand alone camera or a web cam, use my iPod to take short clips of things (like the MAX train ride which doens’t need a screen to see anything) and edit it when I get home.
I think it has it’s niche, let’s just hope it happens.

“(lots of small yelling children play ##### music) when I start to pump out loads of Hardhouse tunes all over their station. “
Right on! Kids these days keep playing music that I think is absolute garbage and should be wiped from the face of the earth.
Hardhouse rulez! (http://www.di.fm has a very good hardhouse internet radio stream)

Editor’s note: Don’t steal music.
I guess they endorse stealing other digital content then..
I wonder who came up with the phrase “Don’t steal music”. The guy at Apple who invented it must be brilliant.

Next generation iPod does TiVo?
Well hopefully Apple isn’t that dumb to treat it’s users like other companies do.
That damned ICQ put 4(!!!!!!!!!!!) links to AOL broadband on my computer when I completed the mandatory upgrade.
One on the desktop, one in the favourites, one at the top of my startmenu programs, and one in the links folder of the favourites menu. And more??
Though I wouldn’t touch AOL in the first place, this turns me against them even more. How lame can AOL get??????

GMonkey,
Do not confuse the companies! It will be very important when you want to sue them for melting your titanium. Gosh, not like these things were not warm enough, just wrap them in plactic blankies…
