I have a 15GB and its full. I could actually put my entire collection on a 20GB though.. so that sucks. And everyone who is using the argument “Who is going to use that much space...” or “What’s another 10GB?” just think about how you felt about hard drive sizes on your computer just a few years ago. When I bought my PC I had 12GB.. the one before it had something like 2GB. Now computers come with 100+.

Peter,
Sorry I didn’t include any documentation. All it does is extracts the files directly from the iPod to a destination of your choice. It does this by executing some Command line prompts via an applescript.
If you have any troubles using it at all, feel free to email me.
Thanks,
Ollie

What should I do? I currently own a 10GB 2G IPOD (full to capacity), should I upgrade to the new 40gb or should I hold back? I am worried apple will release an even better IPOD in the not to distant future.
I bought one for half price new in apple! keep it, it’s better than the new ones (people who work on apple prefer the older model...that might right a bell). besise, wait another year, because with rio karma...eheheh ipods will improve a lot in 1 year. dont buy now, my advise (and 2nd gen was still the most solid up to date)
So does any one know if these units are what Griffin Tech was waiting for in order to release the new iTrip?
they already did! its not new...it’s the old with new adaptor to ipod.. lol just new plastic!
as for 40 gigas...I have over 200 giga collection… so… lol dont mind if it’s 10 or 40...I still have to pick stuff ! lol

for any australians interested, the price of the 40GB is AUS$100 LESS than the 30GB, which is probably due to the strength of the AUS $. So for $899 you can get an extra 10GB. I should be a bit piss** off given that my 30GB is only two weeks old, but I’m NOT : ) i’ve filled up about 8GB of space, and even buying 1 new CD a week, it’s going to take me quite a while to use up the space

The ProClip system is very well thought-out and uses a variety of mounting points - not just the vent clip. They hold everything from cell phones, to PDAs, to video monitors, to .... iPods. BTW I’m just a satisfied customer

Oh thank god I have a TAP. My 10gb 2G that I bought around christmas broke a few months ago, so i got a new 3G 10GB and due to my TAP I have $100 towards another. So, with some of that money i bought a TAP for my new friend and am waiting for a much anticipated AV ipod to trade in for.

Some of you are complaining about Apple not upgrading the iPod more: This is not a new generation of iPod; this is simply a size bump. No new features or anything is being implemented. Only size bump. There will still be a G4 introduced in ‘04 (or early ‘05)
Posted by mongoos150 on September 8, 2003 at 3:02 PM (PDT)
Given how much effort Apple is putting into promoting the new iPod updates, this update is probably going to stand for awhile. I’d say that now is the best time to buy.

Hmmm… Bought a 15GB 9 days ago from the local Apple Store. Have 10 days to return… $40 restock fee. Arg! If it wasn’t worth $100 to have an extra 15GB, it probably isn’t worth $40 for 5GB. Does stink a bit though - wish I knew this was coming.

I’m with Spartacus, I got a 10GB 2G ipod last year in May, and recently my thoughts were moving towards the 60GB zen ‘cos that would contain my entire collection. You can’t beat the conveniece of having your entire music collection at your fingertips on the road. Today, Apple releases an even bigger capacity ipod. At this rate, there probably will be a 60GB (or maybe even bigger) ipod by summer next year.

Same for me. I own my 30G model for under a week now. Problem is, that the new ones aren’t available yet in Europe, and although amazon.de would take the 30G back after 14 days, I don’t think I could wait until the 40G is available.
This thingamabob is just great, exciting, sexy and i don’t now what.
Still amazon could give me the 50 Euro difference back…

Chances are that this change in the 3G models is limited to the hard drive component only, and maybe a few tweaks to the firmware. Probably Toshiba changed their hard drive product line, and so Apple followed suit. The new units are still 3G units, so those who already have one (like me: 15 GB) shouldn’t feel like they are obsolete or won’t be supported. Sure, I’d like the extra 5 GB, but don’t really need it. I felt that I got my money’s worth, and Applie (like any other tech manufactuerer) is totally entitled to upgrade their units from time to time.

Had the 30 gig since they first shipped in the UK. It’s very nearly full, about 1.5 gig left. I will not get anything like my entire record collection on it, however I seriously don’t expect even a 100 gig to do it.
I am obviously one of these daft people with way to much music. “Freakish” was one description. Twenty plus years of buying way too much.
What I have done is put things I haven’t heard in years on it and then applied the shuffle function. Buy the 40 and ENJOY!!!!

I have abuot 25 gigs of music and my 120gig ecternal harddrive holds all of it. That just #### the bed, and my 20 gig ipod only has a decent portion of my music. Wish I had a 40gig right about now. I trust the ipod as a backup harddrive over my real one now.

40 gigs are a fantastic upgrade if you’re a student like me and use this for transporting files to and from school. And: some little birdie told me that this is not the pair of new peripherals that were leaked last week. a HDD upgrade does *not* qualify as a peripheral in my book!
My guess: Whatever they turn out to be, they’ll probably be made by none other than BELKIN, if the recent past is any indication!
Posted by Bademeister on September 8, 2003 at 11:35 AM (PDT)
I have maybe 1300 songs on my 30 gb and I find that the interface is good for a few hundred, but going through that many artists or songs or albums is really a nuisance. They need a better interface before I’d consider upgrading again.
I guess these are the two new ipod ‘accessories’ that were talked about last week at MacRumors; I was really hoping for a keyboard to turn it into a PDA. Bummer.
By the way, to the guy who talked about how anyone who has 10,000 songs legally can afford to give away an old ipod, lemme tell you. I probably own twice that many songs on CD and LP, and I can’t afford it. Between buying music and a 30GB ipod, you think I have any money left over to eat?

Macworld UK: iPod Smart car images
The Volkswagen and IPOD deal totally sucks. They should have included an aux-in port instead of using a tape deck connection.
The commercial is completely annoying too. You know, that “Night and Day” song.
