iPod vs. high-end audio

so, tell us,
are welisteining to our ipod on our stereos?

I am - although it’s nothing great - denon receiver and old mirage speakers.
compariong the cds to the ipod i mostly don’t hear a difference.

but what about you audiophiles? is your ipod a walkman or an integral part of your home sound system?  Anf finally, does having the dock make you more prone to using it on your stereo or not?

Steve Jobs talks iPod, iTunes and the recent HP deal

You have to have an ego. You have to be 100% sure your right, the best and know where you are going. Steve is a good leader because of his ego.

Steve Jobs talks iPod, iTunes and the recent HP deal

If I was worth 2.5 billion and was the CEO of two companies considered leaders in innovation I would have a big ego as well.

No Steve! Don’t take away the iPod’s integrity by recoloring and rebranding it! NOOOO!!!

iTunes Music Store Europe held up by red tape

Acutally it has nothing to do with the EU. Clearly it is the Record Labels themselves that are holding up progress. “A maze of licensing contracts, music release dates that differ by country and incompatible billing systems” Lets see, billing is nonsense as all of Europe takes visa (as does the rest of the World), so we are talking when the labels get paid. Music release dates is just nonsense. The real reason is “licensing contracts” i.e. money and how much goes to who. Nothing to do with the EU and the trading therein. A lot to do with lots of greedy, entrenched recording industry interests.

Snowpodder,
That above photo is of the exo3, not exo2, so it is not false advertising.

iPod vs. high-end audio

Sometimes it is difficult to recognise the best sound quality when you listen to an unknown song or piece of music. Listen to music you are quite familiar with and you might have great chance of admitting the superiority of even a relatively cheap HiFi system.

O'Reilly: Five things the next iPod software version needs to have

I disagree that voice commands would cause lots of battery drain. It would only be “on” when a button is pushed and only long enough for it to listen and find what you are looking for. Maybe three seconds to 5 seconds at the most. Besides. Those that don’t want to use it would notice anything.

WMA - ABSOLUTELY NO!!!!!! There is nothing that you can’t get or can’t convert from WMA to MP3. It would not do Apple any good to do this at all. WMA is HIGHLY restrictive (AAC IS NOT). If you don’t like AAC then just use MP3.

An idea for iPod - user removable battery

“its only obvious!.....they’re all commies over there at Apple!!”

Surely Apples behavior is more akin to fat-cat capitalist bastards than communist!

I think a user replaceable battery would be a great idea.  As to all those naysayers, Trent’s article was merely an idea and surely the design gurus at Apple could come up with a solution - if they were inclined to.  The naysayers should be less quick to criticize in such a negative mannor.

iPodminibattery.com offers replacement batteries for iPods

Is there a huge market for these batteries (especially the 3G model?) After all, I expect only power users are beginning to see failure on their 1G and 2G models and I’d be VERY surprised if people were already cracking out their 3g batteries for replacement.

lol

& Fenn is exactly right. Why can’t the imbeciles in charge (!) see that? They deserve to be ripped off if it wasn’t for the effect it had on the artists.

Updated: Audio Outfitters looking for beta testers for new iPod product

Big deal. Why is everyone worrying about the possibility of someone stealing your personal information? I doubt any of you gave anything other than standard contact info.

You do this every day when you sign up for prize entry forms and a host of other internet services. Big deal. If it turns out to be a scam the worst that can happen is more spam.

The guy has made an effort to dispel the conspiracy theories in here so give him a chance.

I would like to comment on a possible idea for an iPod product. If someone would make an adapter that takes the firewire signal from DV camcorders and inputs it to the iPod for hard drive recording, I would buy it in a snap if it were reliable and iPods had larger sizes.

My 2 cents…

CNET: Canadian MP3 player tax challenged

There’s nothing sane about silly taxes.  There is no rational basis for the Canadians taxing MP3 players.  Next thing you know, the Canadian iPods will have to have at least 1/3 Canadian music like their radio stations do!
