BusinessWeek: The Chili Peppers' Sour Grapes Over iTunes
I think somone said this in a previous thread, if these bands aren’t willing to give those consumers who only want to buy singualr tracks the optiion to do so, they will end up being the most pirated on kazaa and the like. These bands are forgetting supply and demand. Why make a stance like this? Artists sign recording contracts, and labels make money off album sales, so why do they care where the money comes from singles or albums, why bite the hand that wants to feed them?

BusinessWeek: The Chili Peppers' Sour Grapes Over iTunes
My wife had an interesting point about the chili peppers & others taking this stand: if they really believe that everyone needs to buy the whole album and not individual songs, how come they release singles and allow individual songs to be played on the radio. Do they mean once we start playing the album, we can’t turn it off and go on to other tasks until it’s completed?

'Pods Unite' : VW & Apple Team Up in New Beetle
Just as a followup: the TV ad campaign started during the All Star Game last night. It shows a white Beetle close up from odd angles along with a 3G Ipod in the same manner, so that you can’t immediately figure out what it is you’re looking at. (As an Ipod Idiot Savant, I immediately recognized the image of the control buttons with the backlight on and then realized I was seeing the new promo.) They do a shot late in the ad thru the sunroof sowing the Ipod in some sort of white holder . That holder certainly didn’t exist in the promotional lit the store I visited had.

Foo_Foo, the iTunes Music Store is absolutely revolutionary. Let me take a guess - you don’t use a Mac? Here in Australia I was watching a news report on music piracy and the reporter said that the iTunes Music Store was “the only hope for the music industry.” Perhaps an overstatement, but it IS truly fantastic. When it comes to Australia I will be praising it even more highly.

This guy knows what rock is because he lives the life of a rock star!
He knows that most artists make only 3 or 4 good songs and use filler for the rest.

Who is this shill of a writer? Because the Chili Peppers don’t want to give in and follow everyone, they’re not on the cutting edge. Screw that.
And besides, what kind of artist really thinks “Hey, I’ll make 2 good songs and the rest will be filler.” That’s a biggest copout people have been giving for way too long. Just ignore the article

Also, why does it seem that this article only mentions the Chili Peppers? Because it basically DOES! This article is really biased. It makes no mention of the other “hold outs.”

BusinessWeek: The Chili Peppers' Sour Grapes Over iTunes
This has already been said in other articles. And still I think it holds true that the only reason anyone talks about this is because of Lars Ulrich who commandeers their management company to make everyone do the same. The Chili Peppers don’t seem to even care about people downloading their songs off of Kazaa for FREE. They’re actual artists, and damn good ones at that!

'Pods Unite' : VW & Apple Team Up in New Beetle
Why does it seem like if you gave us 15 mins we could think this thru a little better?
Better publicity, better Point of purchase displays, better functionality.
Well maybe this is just to test the waters, and see how many people come in to check it out?
It would seem that using the stereo to control the iPod (ie. what Blitzsafe is supposedly working on) and provide charge, while displaying the track and title info on the stereo face would be a bit more appealing than a car adapter kit that you can buy in the apple store, along with a dash kit that totally doesn’t match the rest of the car.
Just my .02
If phatbox (VW trunk mounted MP3 system) can use the stereo face to control the system, why can’t VW/Apple/Blitzsafe work up the same?
If remote controlling wasn’t designed in by now (3 gen iPod) that would be a shame!
Apple could get even more sales here simply by being compatible with a ‘pre existing setup’ if you catch my drift.

Sraphim, such is not life when a feature of the product you buy is an upgradeable firmware, a feature Apple claimed on it’s own.

"What's Missing From the iPod?"
To “pbox”
If you want support on NJBZen, go read the horror stories about the zen and all the complications that users have had. The thing is, Creative uesd to be kewl, now they’re much worse than Apple. Their warranty is just 90 days compared to Apple’s 1 year, and getting through their support, so I’ve heard, is like going through a brick wall.
Face it, companies cannot provide backwards support to every single product that they have ever created. There’s profit to be had, and new products to be created. If you’re bellyaching about how Apple won’t release a firmware for the Gen2 iPods, then that’s life. If you’re a Windows user, you’re being screwed even more by Microsoft. If you use Win 98 or ME, Microsoft won’t simply upgrade that for free, despite the fact that your computer may have adequate capability to use it. You have to pay to upgrade your Windows based OS. Such is life.

"What's Missing From the iPod?"
What is missing….
Let’s see what about customer support. Or even customer base appreciation. I used to be a proud touchwheel iPod owner. No I am just an owner. I will be getting a Nomad Zen next. Probably will fax the receipt to Apple, just to show “appreciation”.
Bye Apple, hello features.

To the person who wrote “well well well…”
Your ignorance really shines through on this one. Judging by your comments, you have obviously never been to America; if you had you would actually have some sense in talking of the subject of America. By posting such a blasphemous and blatently uncultivated frenzy of insult and unlearned opinion is an insult to everyone on this board to have to read your mindless rant. We will take you seriously when you have put some thought and sense into your opinion.

Bush is stupid and I will never admit that he is actually our President.
As for the 300,000+ troops, we won’t capture you. We’ll just bomb the hell outta your home and look for your dead carcass when it’s all over.
He cares for oil FOR America, not for himself, but I agree that is wrong. Stupid oil macho headed Republican pig. That’s what he is…

Mercury News: Buy.com to start music service
I wonder what apple’s response to this will be. Will they ramp up delivery date for the Window’s iTunes? I hope so. I’ve told all my windows friends how great the iTunes Music Store is…and how they should “switch.” I hope I didn’t shoot myself in the foot.

"Kazaa Derivatives Offer RIAA-Blocking Features"
As usual, this is yet another case of the RIAA continually biting the hand that they want to actively feed them. What makes this so hilarious(or is it pathetic?I can’t decide),is that the majors started themselves off on this road to ruin when they elected to, among other things,to stop making stuff available commercially.
I’m a firm believer in making sure the artist gets paid, but when you go out of your way to continually frustrate the very people you want to buy your stuff…I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve gone into a store to buy songs, only to be told I couldn’t because “the company feels that it would take away sales from the album…” The problem I have with that logic is that 97% of the time, I’ve already own the album. Or being asked to shell out another $16.00 to buy another copy of an album I already own because it has two new songs on it…I could go on and on…
I’ve read articles that quote the Chairman of Island DefJam say that the reason P2P sharing is so rampant is because “the kids and other people using it are lazy…”. I beg to differ.
I know that I kinda went off topic, and I apologize, but as long as the RIAA continues to take stances like this, instead of trying to work with it,they will continually find themselves under seige, because people will become that much more craftier…

"Kazaa Derivatives Offer RIAA-Blocking Features"
hkjdf, that’s not in the spirit of file sharing. if no one shares, where will you get your files, hkjdf? as far as declaring war on the consumers, as in the first post, consumer would be defined as someone paying for music, not stealing it. the kids will always be ahead of the RIAA though.
