Well for the record, my computer on Win XP just gave me a BSOD right when entering the site for the first time since I’ve had Win XP about a year ago.

Wouldn’t try that again.

Griffin iFM Radio for iPod canceled

I never quite understood the FM tuner,  I have iPod so I don’t have to listen to the monotonous drivel on the radio.

DJs look to iPod as the next turntable?

Software / hardware to manipulate the tracks from the iPOD via a turntable does sort of exist in the Stanton Final Scratch software/hardware ( http://www.finalscratch.com) it isnt the greatest solution but the Mac version does allow iPOD tunes to be imported… I use this method very regularly when playing my dj sets…

I look forward to hearing from other iPOD musicians, please feel free to mail me and share any experiences or latest pieces of software…

Keep up the good work

RipDigital announces CD ripping service

Re: Get Digital

It may be a better service, but it costs twice as much.

Get Digital: 200 CDs = ~ $400
Rip Digital: 200 Cds = ~ $200

Griffin iFM Radio for iPod canceled

ahh. that iHP thing is terrible. i dont get it. they try to make it look nice, and end up making it look horrible. iPod is one of the few mp3 players i’ve seen wich has no openly displayed screws. the archos looks horrible, its like holding a brick. a brick with a screen. this iRiver thing is also pretty ugly.
10 days til my iPod arrives!

Griffin iFM Radio for iPod canceled

I am so sick of these all-in-ones like the iHP that have no heart: Yikes

Certain people out there may, indeed, feel the need to find the next crappy song on the next crappy C.C. FM station. I guarantee you, though, that the people who buy this—unlike P. Diddy and myself—will not have a playlist named “Boning Music” installed on it.

Robert X. Cringely predicts cheaper iPods and video iPod for 2004

Quoting: “While I was correct that there wouldn’t be a significant act of high-tech terrorism in 2003, I was wrong in my mysterious prediction of a new electronic way to foment social change.”

I hate to give this guy credit because he write so self-importantly, but I think the Dean campaign is an instance of fomenting social change electronically.

But at the end he should have said “Check back 366 days from now.” Ha Ha! Take that, jerk.

For a mere $500 you too can avoid ever having to buy another $15 MiniDV tape again!

Seriously, why would anybody buy an iPod for digital video storage?  It’s not like it’s something that could be casually done, it would require the majority of an iPod’s storage space.  Storing digital photos is one thing, but video is a whole other issue.

Flash memory is WAY too old, and would raise the price a couple hundered $. as for the Video pod? i saw something like that in a Wired magazine to do list; along side the Safari for windows(Ha! like that would ever happen!) and the “iPhone”

Give me money to buy an iPod

I have to say I’m really annoyed at this guy. I just spent £299 on buying myself an iPOD. Why the hell didn’t I think of this first?
And on that note, if any of you here are still feeling generous perhaps you would like to donate 50p for my to get an itrip.
I live in the UK so the price is going to be around £45
I only need 90 people, so come on, have a heart.
Paypal accepted .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) (get rid of the nospam.

BTW, I am being serious here, any donation would be appreciated.

I disagree with removal of the jogwheel.  It is a major user interface advantage over other approaches.  A circular motion is continuous and can react properly to speed of movement.  Scroll pads/wheels will cause RSI in no time flat.

Strangely enough, none of the mock-ups brought back the mecanical buttons of the original iPod.  Those buttons used up a lot less real estate than the current “no moving parts” buttons.  The touch sensitive buttons were not realy added to improve usability (they actualy reduced it).

The hard drive is the most expensive part of the iPod (more than 80% of the cost) so I don’t think Apple will sacrifice user experience to save on the buttons/jogwheel assembly.

I also don’t expect Apple to build an iPod so radically different that existing R&D could not be leveraged.  Instead I would not be surprised that they introduce some original and less expensive storage strategy such as the 1.5GB 1” HDs from Cornice.

Robert X. Cringely predicts cheaper iPods and video iPod for 2004

me has a point. i wouldn’t use it to watch movies on the screen, you would link it up to a television through the firwire port(?), as it is too small. however, if i was travelling on the train i wouldn’t mind watching an episode of the simpsons or family guy; just to pass time.

Windows: iPod-Ex[tras] 0.1 Released

Ti, you said that this is late in release. Can you tell the people that are not in the know where and what are these other already avalible products?

Dan, I just downloaded it and it looks good, its not flash or anything, but it is simple better than MS Outlook, that i don’t use cause I only want to keep the contacts on my iPod.

Robert X. Cringely predicts cheaper iPods and video iPod for 2004

The point to a video iPod (for me at least) isn’t watching movies on a little screen.  It’s for hooking it up to a regular TV or using a video headset.  Sure they’re expensive now, but will be cheaper eventually.  And it would be handy to bring my video iPod and an a/v cable with me to a friend’s house instead of a case full of DVDs.

i think his quicktime camera is more along the lines of what apple will do than a vidiPod. i just don’t see the advantage of a mp3/video combination [like the archos]. who wants to watch movies on a tiny little screen? unless they come up with a way to make the screen big, theres not much point.
