"Hello iPod, Goodbye, MD"

mds are awesome if you have the equipment and/or patience to use them. i gave up my mz-n1 to move to the ipod only because i didnt want to use 1:1 recording speeds for the best quality sound. mds offer superior audio if recorded properly. that being said, the mp3s (although a lossless format) are decent. and i love the pod. but i still have a soft spot for mds… i just think that the technology was never pushed in the US.

"Hello iPod, Goodbye, MD"

Good point, slaw.

Also, confrontational and/or product-comparison ads are almost unheard of in Japan. I have yet to see the ads on TV here, but it doesn’t sound promising, and I am sure that many Japanese (my family included) will frown upon such ads.

I also experienced the thing “cannot connect to ipod” and I just removed the check in enabled disk mode and rebooted the system…Hoala click the update until finished and the clicks between tracks are gone. Thank you Apple. I love my Ipod.

"Hello iPod, Goodbye, MD"

Even though I am not a Japanese market expert, I question the logic behind Apple “calling out” Sony.  IMHO, Apple should have “let sleeping dog’s lie”.  My guess is that Apple is still high on the success of their “Switcher” campaign.  The PC market is very different than the music market.  Especially since there is room for many players…

"Hello iPod, Goodbye, MD"

I’m glad that Apple has begun this ad campaign, and I hope this makes the iPod more successful to a point where it’ll own more of the portable music player market than the MD. I’ve always been so frustrated with Sony and their refusal to embrace MP3, even though the gadgets they make are designed pretty well. In all fairness, their stubborness is only a result of their music division, but I hope the success of the iPod will get Sony and their music division to finally comprehend that DRM crippled music technology is a thing of the past

"Hello iPod, Goodbye, MD"

I truely never gave it a second thought about getting one, I didn’t see the point in getting what is basically just a small version of a casette player. And the thing still needed discs which I think is a waste of money when mp3 players can store more music cheaper as if you want to you can get mp3’s for free too.

"Hello iPod, Goodbye, MD"

on a scale form 1 to 10 I give md’s a 2 and i give the pod a 9, I bought a sony MZ-N1 when it first came out, cost me 300$, I couldve gotten a 10gb pod for that, worst mistake ever made, and plus the recording time cant even compare with the pod

European iTunes Music Store Delayed

I think Apple has proven that there is a market for people who don’t want to steal, yes that is what P2P is stealing, their music.  It is pretty damn amazing that the iTunes music store has sold over 5 million songs in 8 weeks, especially since the music service is only available to Mac users in the US who are running OSX.  IF anyone is going to do music right in Europe I think Apple is the one to do it if they can get the rights thing sorted out.

European iTunes Music Store Delayed

Oh forgot to mention the part of the article which says the OD2 company based in Bristol could not comment on how many songs they had sold in the past 8 weeks. Your comparing a small UK company to Apple? Just because they both sell music online which alot of other stores do its abit silly to compare such different companys

European iTunes Music Store Delayed

I dont beleive that the launch of iTunes store in Europe will be such a success as it was in Europe, I also can’t think why people would rather pay 99c for a single ratehr then download a P2P program and get the song for free. I know all about the campaigns against the artists copright and its wrong because this is there living but when the music industry gave a press release on the ammount they had lost the results were something like last year 6x BILLION dollors were spent this year ONLY 4x BILLION. They make enough money that single artists will not really feel the blunt of the money not being spent, yet they moan it comes down to greedyness in the end.

"Hello iPod, Goodbye, MD"

Hmmm Sony should try and fight back, even though I love my iPod and like Apple, Sony have made some good ad campaigns so it would be good to see how they rivel outside just the music player battle

iTrip Video

yep would have to agree very cool video, nice shots and angles. Also commenting on above I’d just buy it cos of its look lol, especially the blue LED, the whole thing box included looks like its been made by Apple itself.

Dell no longer selling 10GB iPods

I just checked Dell’s web site and they now have both 10 and 15 GB iPods for sale again. There’s currently a 10% off sale that applies, and I’ve also seen coupon codes for $35 off orders over $300 out there that will apply tot he 15 GB model.

The 30 GB iPods seem to be on backorder almost everywhere.

Dell no longer selling 10GB iPods

I was in the same boat, and jsut got an email saying it was delayed again. I called Dell and found out that it was actually shipped on Friday. I have actually received no email confirmation from Dell, but I got a tracking number from a Dell rep. Give them a call and you might be pleasantly suprised.

Musiconmac.com Launched; Daily Site for Mac Musicians

Yes, I enjoy OS X Audio a lot, so I’m aware we’re not first. Of course, there’s bound to be some duplication—just like the two dozen excellent daily Mac news sites with basically the same focus. And of course, many, many of us will hit 5 or 6 favorites daily and browse.

musiconmac will differ from some of the existing music sites in some key ways:

- The focus is music in general, not just audio. This includes in-depth hardware coverage, music notation software, and music education solutions.

- In addition to daily news which I believe is essential, we’ll be doing regular feature articles, including more in-depth reviews, tutorials, and interviews with developers and artists (already a bit of that in the queue).

- One feature which isn’t fully up-and-running yet is the community side of things, with events posting and music sharing, which I also hope to emphasize.

These are just ideas. I certainly welcome feedback so we fit a niche and provide something unique instead of just overlapping with OS X Audio, EM411, Harmony Central, and so on.
