Apple discontinues old iPod remote

It’s a real shame that Apple doesn’t support those early customers of iPod who were the ones who supported Apple when Apple was developing the product.

Maybe potential 3rd generation iPod buyers should consider another MP3 player.  What’s goning to happen to you when the 4th generation comes out?

Apple 10GB iPod for $280

This is posted again? And it’s not a great deal at all….

FutureShop Canada now selling iPods

Future Shop is a rip off, they sell the 10, 15, and 30 gig for $459, $629, and $799 respectively when the retail price at apple and any apple dealer is $459, $599, and $749 CAD…...

BUT you can give them a taste of their own medicine because they offer the lowest price guarantee…. Just price match and you can get it 110% of the difference back, and their website offers free shipping…. So it could be better than buying it at the other stores…..

Though I’m waiting for a better price than retail…..

Actually, 3rd generation iPodders ought to pray just as hard, and those who don’t own an iPod yet should watch carefully.

Apple discontinues old iPod remote

a broken remote is the least of your worries.  You better pray with the rest of us non-3rd generation ipodders that they even continue to support our ipods !!! (i.e. firmware updates, internal parts, etc.)

BusinessWeek: How Apple Spells Future: i-P-O-D

How many mid to large corporations out there utilize nothing but MAC servers, MAC workstations, and so forth?  How many leading business related softwares out there would work with MAC OS?  Would system adminstrators in mid to large corporations today switch their current environment to MAC OS instead of Linux and/or other favor of Unix?  How many essential business hardwares currently available work with MAC OS?

All and all, it would be a long shot for MAC to gain popluarity in business world instead of just a few casual computer users.  Apple has to rethink it’s strategies to be able to become player in the mainstream.  It has to re-write it’s policy to allows more 3rd party developers to build or write stuffs for MAC.  Heck, it needs to make MAC works with more stuffs than now.  It needs to revolutionize the industry with something useful and legit instead of releasing statements such as “MAC OS NEVER CRASH” (Really?!) or “Gx IS THE FASTEST COMPUTER ON EARTH!” (Jury is still out on this one).

iPOD on the other hand is indeed the best effort by Apple for ages.  It works just like any other MP3 players.  It can store as much data as most other HD based MP3 player.  However, Apple managed to integrate STYLE into this little thing.  That’s the reason why it wons the hearts of many including non-MAC users like myself.  As for other products from MAC, I always wonder how successful Apple would be today if people can load Windows into iMAC instead of MAC OS.  At the very least I can say you can find a couple of them in my house!

Apple discontinues old iPod remote

when will Apple ever again fully embrace the hordes of “classic” iPod users? It seems like they want nothing to do with us.

Vaja announces new Classic cases for dock iPods

BEWARE OF THESE CASES!  I have the classic case for my 2nd gen iPod and they have 2 MAJOR flaws:

1.  no reverse stitching on the case means it will scratch your iPod every time you try to put it in.

2.  cutout for the headphone jack is too small which means you can’t use any headphone you want.

sounds a little anti-apple to me. What do you mean no future with powermacs or any apple computer.  Apple will not just stay alive with a damn MP3 player!!!

Vaja announces new Classic cases for dock iPods

I was all ready to buy the new Classic case until I came upon the last page of the web checkout and they want 18 flippin’ dollars for shipping!!!!!!!

That’s over half the cost of the $35 case, which I find OUTRAGEOUS.

Otherwise, definintely would have bought it.

"iTunes and the Technology Beyond MP3"

I did blinded testing and 160 kbps AACs sounded as good as -alt present standard EAC/LAME MP3s, which are 200-250 kbps.

I switched to AAC just for the space savings.

The testing was done with headphones and car audio.  At home I use either the original WAV or AIFF or Monkey’s audio (lossless compression).

Cheers,

Well, Dell might not have stopped selling them, but if you can’t order them online it’s the next best thing to not selling them.

If ANYTHING looks like a cheese grater, it’s this. I thought the G5 descriptions were over-the-top, but applied to this stand they are well-deserved.
