ABC News: Music Labels Threaten to Sue Net Users

Strange, it seems that they are going after the very people most of their income is coming in from. Just jail these cash-cows and see the profit plummet even further.

Plug an iSight into iPod and record video?

iPodlounger, that claim about ipod and isight seems to be a little far flung to me. I would prefer Apple to make an attempt at connecting my firewire CF card reader, and transfer my digital pictures to the hard disk, first. This only involves short bursts of data transfers, without the consistent bandwidth requirement.

How could they even think about video recording with steady stream of data?

Don’t get me wrong, I think it is a great idea, and thenks for sharing it. I just think Apple should take baby steps. Like on-the-go playlist on older ipods. That would be bombastic!

Plug an iSight into iPod and record video?

Why would apple ever build a cell phone?  Why would they ever build a camcorder?  There are about a million cell phones and camcorders out there for a much wider market than apple seems to be able to reach . . .read the spec information about the iSight, they’re struggling to make it sound like the best camera out there.

Attaching it to an ipod would suck . .. it would be about as good as a gameboy camera . . .

MAYBE . . .MAYBE if WiFi was EVERYWHERE would an apple portable videophone make sense . . .

ABC News: Music Labels Threaten to Sue Net Users

You would still be liable under copyright law in the fact that you place them online enables other individuals to copy (download) your music.

In fact if you look at the small print around your CD label a portion of it say’s the following ” Unathorized copying, hiring, lending, public performance and broadcasting of this recording prohibited”. And by recording it means it covers each individual recording on the CD, so you can’t get away with it by just placing one or two tracks off the CD online! You can your pick as to what you are doing placing music online for download.

They could actually pursue people in the UK, via the BPI ( UK’s version of the RIAA).

Plug an iSight into iPod and record video?

“Slap the iSight onto a 15-gigabyte iPod and all of a sudden you’ve got a hard-drive-based camcorder”

That was my first thought when I saw the iSight announcement.

But does anyone think the current iPods are capable of compressing and storing video on the fly? Since they pulled the audio recording capability with the 2.0.1 update, I’m not hopeful.

I live in the UK so know nothing about US law but I’m not sure how this would work.

Surely if you are ‘offering’ your collection for download you aren’t stealing anything (as long as you have the original cds), it would only be people downloading from you are stealing (or am I missing something here)?

It depends on the car.  I noted cars with internal antennas (no visible antenna outside of the car, obviously) don’t seem to be too keen on the iTrip, where as cars which have an external antenna come in nice and crisp.

The only problem I have had was having an extremely piercing high pitch ring come through the speakers of the receiving system from the broadcasting iPod.  However, it is fixable.  What I noted was, you need to tune into a clear frquency and adjust the volume control on the actual ipod until you hear no more ringing, then you can adjust the volume on the receiving transmitter.

It ultimately depends on the receiver and that is understandable due to different standards through manufacturer.

So play around and you too will find that the iTrip is a remarkable thing for a mere $35 USD.

ackNOWLEDGE Announces iSkin eXo for new iPods

I will have it up this week on the site. Yesterday I was in Hong Kong to have some of the dealers look at the product. Without telling them how to insert the iPod they instantly inserted it the right way. I thought I would have to explain how. This was with all the dealers I meet with and their staff. Docking is as easy.  Once you have an exo in your hands you will understand.

Dell no longer selling 10GB iPods

Obviously, people are getting mixed responses from Dell.

When I had ordered my 30 GB iPod on May 15, it was backorderd until the 30th. They emailed me on the 30th to say it would be delayed until June 15th. They then emailed me on June 6th to say it would be delayed until June 20th and that my order would be cancelled unless I called to keep it active. I called immediately to keep it active, and when I checked my order on the 8th discovered that it had shipped out on the 6th…not long after I had confirmed my order.

Definitely frustrating, but definitely worth the wait to get a $500 iPod for about $400 after discounts. I’ve had it for almost 2 weeks and I LOVE IT!!!

whats the name of the font shown in that picture?i have it on my computer but i dont know the name

"Hello iPod, Goodbye, MD"

Sony had some really cool flash based “mp3” players, too bad they f’d them up with too many restrictions. You had to convert your mp3’s to ATRACs in order to put them on the player and check them in/out on your computer. It was ridiculous.

I would count on Sony puting out a really great HD based player, hardware wise, but then ruining it with restrictions the same way they ruined their flash based players.

Mine worked great inside. then I tried it in two different cars. There is too much static to make it usable. I returned it and went back to my casette adapter.

"Hello iPod, Goodbye, MD"

I’ve used to use MD exclusively, but since the ipod no more. The thing about MD is the fact that you still have to carry around the discs, which may not be as bad as cd’s, but still with the ipod it’s less to carry around and the music is more easily accessable.
