One million iPods, iTunes sells five million songs

Does that mean they sold ~600k of the gen3 ipods?  I remember hearing the installed base of gen1 and gen2 combined being 400k.

VW Audio Interface Adapter

It’s funny, my itrip sucks in my volvo, but works great in my girlfriend’s golf. I’m ready to suck it up and get a tape adapter i think. I hate the wires, but the itrip isn’t working out for me.

iPod Software 2.0.1 Update Released

well, my 15gb is now (un)happily on its way back to the maker via Airborne Express. After attempting the update, I called tech service. they advised to let the battery drain and then try to reinstall after 24 hours.

after 24 hours, it was deader than dead. reset buttons did absolutely nothing. Its on its way back…hopefully I’ll get less of a lemon this time…

Apple Store: Refurbished 20GB iPod for $299

No problems as of yet, and it does look like a brand new model to me.  No scratches or wear of any kind.

Illegal Downloading Hurting Music Sales

Record Exec : “I don’t understand it! We’ve spent the past 50 years creating a ‘youth culture’  that’s rebellious and anti-authoritarian so they’d buy the music of our carefully groomed ‘rebels’, and now these kids are disobeying the law!”

iPod Software 2.0.1 Update Released

Update of v 2.0.1 firmware on 30G iPod using Windows XP went very smoothly.

FYI for those who haven’t done it yet:

1)Download the software
2)Double click the setup file you just downloaded to install the software.
3)Reboot your computer
4)Place your iPod in the dock
5)Start the iPod Manager/Updater program

Some helpful hints that worked for me:
a)I did all my downloading and installing without the iPod in the dock(some people experienced trouble when rebooting with iPod in dock)

b)Once the iPod is in the dock and you start the updater, be patient and WAIT for it to recognize the iPod(The update button will initially be grayed out, but will become activated once it sees the iPod)

c)READ the updater as it’s doing the update and follow the instructions. (Your computer screen will read “Updating firmware please wait” or “Updating firmware please do not disconnect”).  When the whole process is completed it will let you know you may disconnect the iPod. Make sure you do it properly by stopping the device in Windows first of course.

d)I did NOT lose all of my MP3s already loaded on the iPod.  Updating firmware should not do that.  Restoring will.

Not that it should matter much but, I have a 1.5Mhz AMD processor and the actual updating process took somewhere in the neighborhood of 2-5 minutes from start to finish.

No more skipping songs after playing only a portion of the file, Whoooo hoooo!!!!!

Good luck!

Warning: Don't buy an European iPod, its volume is too low

Hi all,

I’ve installed update 2.0.1 yesterday and alleluia! the sound cap seems to be off (or set much higher). I don’t have to listen to my iPod at 95% as before. Around 60%, it is already more than ok.

For info, I downloaded the update through software update, so if there was meant to be any restrictions for Europe, it would have picked it up.

This closes this issue, doesn’t it?

iPod Software 2.0.1 Update Released

Dont for get that if you are using an unpowered firewire cable you need to plug your Ipod INTO THE POWER TO COMPLETE THE UPGRADE. I forgot and though that I had blown it up.

VW Audio Interface Adapter

a cassette works in my wife’s 2001 Jetta TDI.  We have the “regular” single CD—not the high end one.

The sound is ok, but I hate all of the wires.  Still, my iTrip fuzzes out if I go anywhere with radio signals of decent strength.  I think for long trips, until I get a way to hard wire it into the system, a cassette is how I’ll go.

VW Audio Interface Adapter

Some of the newer head units have “smart” features like auto rewind that interfere with the normal operation of a cassette audio adapter. I’m pretty sure the stock VW head units have this feature/problem (although I’ve never tried a cassette adapter in mine).

Zip your iPod, new case announced

So if the resellers are going to have them in 7 to 14 days…. when do you think I’ll be able to get one?  Any chance I could get one from you directly?  Would that be faster?  Only reason I ask is because I’m going to be traveling for 4 months, and I’m really going to need the iskin.  If you need a tester (I’d pay for the iskin of course) or if you could get it to me faster by contacting me directly, you can reach me at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

—Thanks for all your help,
