iPod 5GB for Mac or Windows $149

I bought an original 5gig refurbished iPod from Apple.com this past winter for my girlfriend.  She was all nervous about it having been tinkered with, so I gave her mine and took the refurbished one.  In all honesty, there is no difference whatsoever between the refurb and the brand new from a year ago.  I think that the new touch sensative things feel like what i would imagine lizard genitals would feel like, and the scroll wheel is wonderful, so this deal is jaw dropping to me . . .  Grab these while you can, i just got one for my little sister . . .

I see.  I don’t use the cover at all, so this won’t be an issue

iPod 5GB for Mac or Windows $149

I bought a refurbished 20gig and it’s a spot-on replica of a brand new one. There’s not even a scratch on there. It works perfect and not I or anyone else has ever been able to tell it was refurbished. And it was $100 cheaper than the normal asking price. AND the best part is that it came with a one year warranty from Apple. If the price is right for you, the refurbished iPods are the next best thing to buying it new. Maybe even better.

I think they mean that someone brings in a broken one and exchanges it.. and they repair it, replace the shell, and sell it as ‘refurbished.’ However, if you had a new one and a refurbished one, the only difference would be the price :)

Yes there is a slot on the bottom, but I wish it had a plug to fit in it when not charging. You have to remove the ipod from the case if you keep the plastic cover over the slot that came with the pod. If they had one that came with the case, it would be much easier. Otherwise, I love the case.

odd…my comment on how I thought it wasn’t an attractive case at all has disappearred…is this run by the apple moderators?

Editor’s note: I assure you it wasn’t deleted, please re-submit as there may have been an error. Thanks, and there are definitely no Apple moderators working here :)

Belkin Auto Kit for new iPod may not fit some cars

The Griffin charger I have is compatible with bothe types of iPod.  The part the goes into the power source has a firewire port (not a firewire cable) so that a firewire cable can be plugged into it.  And since the new docking iPods have a firewire on one end, it works.

PowerDesign releases BodyMasks for new iPods

podpac.com.  It’s vinyl so it won’t screw up your ipod and you can clean it up.  I emailed the guy and he said that he’s finalizing the details on the new design.  I think I might get one of these instead of using my pda covers since they’re pretty cheap.  Someone over at the apple discussion boards suggested them.  And for those who want a blue backlight, they come in blue.  yeah yeah I know the resolution problem won’t be solved but I’m guessing with a blue podpac, my buttons will light up purple (red + blue…).  And I can always cut out a hole for the screen if I don’t like looking at it through vinyl.

New MARWARE SportSuit Convertible available for pre-order

If you have ever had a Marware case, you would appreciate the sportsuit.  I personally use it for the Bicycle mount.  Its the ONLY case I have found that has so many mounting options.

I agree… it’s not the most “Apple Like” design.  But its not designed by that arrogant European fellow. It’s design is function first!

Great work!

Zip your iPod, new case announced

All of that info will be up on www.maclear.biz this coming week. Zip is a new product and I am rushing to fill my distributor’s orders. Next week you will have all your answers in picture form. In the meantime zip has die cut holes for the headphones, the stub removes with a twisted of a flat head screw driver and the docking is possible with a quick zip but the case does not have to be removed - for the previous 10gb you don’t have to unzip to get to the firewire port. Thank you for your comment and watch for maclear for iBook and powerbook.

Hey Lajo… are you the person who runs maclear? (The name is kind of a giveaway!) If so, can you provide some additional pictures? I’m very interested, but skeptical. Being able to see the product, say, in the dock, with the stud removed, with the headphones in, etc would help. Thanks!

New MARWARE SportSuit Convertible available for pre-order

Not as bad as some of those nasty DLO’s. Very functional in that it protects while you can still use it, and can carry earbuds. May be a little bulky though. Hoping for a CEO Classic soon.

This is a pretty good case. I have a marware convertable for my ipod 20 and I like this case better for the protection and style. This case definitely looks better the way they designed it than the new marware cases! The only thing they missed here was a plug for the bottom like marware has.

I think that it has a good look.  Some of the other cases out there are far uglier or more expensive and some are ugly and expensive.

I don’t know about this. It reminds me of those plastic covers on sofas. It’s like so 70s.

Yes, there is an access hole for ear/headphones. To access the FireWire dock port, you need to unzip the case. The zipper has a protective lining so it will not scratch the iPod.

Belkin Auto Kit for new iPod may not fit some cars

David,

I tinkered around a lot with the built-in “gain” of the adapter until I found a sweet spot with no distortion.

Is it possible Belkin made some defective units?

Sorry about the previous post but people keep comparing the Belkin with other units and they have different purposes.

Cheers.

Belkin Auto Kit for new iPod may not fit some cars

Alric, in all due respect, the problem is that the Belkin does not have a clean line in—it has a crappy little amplifier that distorts sound. For those that go through the trouble to hardwire into the CD changer control (as you and I have done), why sacrifice the sound quality (and you really do, I mean, noticeably!) with the Belkin??

You need an extra base to get a clean line out.
