A Word of Warning Regarding the New Artwork Feature in iTunes 4

Will the old artwork remain if I replace with a new artwork file???

I have replaced some files with artwork of smaller size, am I simply adding even more size to the pre-existing size???

iTunes Sharing Status Service Debuts

actually, when you share your iTunes across the LAN or internet, you only STREAM the song, not actually move the file across the network.

Hope for iPod Software 2.0 features on older iPods

I’d forsake the games, which I never use, for the additional funcitonality.

Now I’m reading that the recording line-in will be part of the remote jack on the iPod itself? Is it true?

A good frequency that works reliably well for me is 91.3. I live in San Jose and commute to San Francisco.

This is a picture of the old 20 GB ipod compared to the old 5 GB ipod. This is not the new rev 3 ipod.

I wonder if they have enough space on the EPROM for 2.0 firmware? If memory serves, the size is 2MB and there’s been afew updates. It’s got to be close to full.

What I really want to see is a close-up of the dock to see if there is an RCA jack for a line-in for recording. Is it true?

You mean there’s a line-in on the dock that will enable stereo mp3 encoding from an audio source in a future firmware/hardware upgrade? If so, this is the deal maker many of us have been waiting for. Now if they could only increase the battery life through a firmware upgrade too. I understand it’s really only 7 1/2 hours, which is pretty lame.

I think it might be for sharing across the LAN but I could be mistaken.

Toast Converts Protected AAC to AIF

Yes, that’s what he meant by “without having to burn a CD first”... Kindof an ugly step to have to burn a physical disc is you’re just going to make MP3s after it later…  Or maybe it’s just one song.. etc…  Also, because of jitter and other types of things, it might actually be better quality to avoid the cd-burning/ripping step (probably unnoticable to most ears though).

iTunes Sharing Status Service Debuts

lol I hadn’t thought about that but your right if the new music store is all about buying music and not sharing then why does it have a share option? that would be pointless when they don’t let you share it

I think you are referring to the Toshiba 1.8” 15GB HDD photo? It says 500mA.

Does sharing allow one to copy said music file to ones hard drive?  if so, the statement “Don’t steal music, share it”, seems a mute point!

How do the interal links work? I haven’t tried a 3rd gen iPod out yet… does the Notes function allow for hyperlinking, or am I missing something?

Classic iPod owners' frustration with Apple makes headlines

amen.

I would willingly pay up to $40 odd bucks for the upgrade if it would save me buying a whole new feeking iPod. these things are not cheap and I am not as loaded as apple would like me to be.

like I said previously, this goes deeper with me than just a bad marketing choice, I have already put my powerbook up for sale. I do not want to be a part of what the apple brand has become.

live on open source.

Classic iPod owners' frustration with Apple makes headlines

Well, like I said before, I wouldn’t mind paying for the upgrade, since it does add significant features and is not just some tweaks.  However, I feel they’re being unreasonable by asking us to buy an entirely new iPod just to get them.  iPods are expensive, and I shouldn’t have to buy another one just for features that are done in software only and can easily be done on existing iPods.
