iPod 10GB for $199 at Target

Here in Minnesota, I called around to several places and the only location that had an iPod is selling them for not $199, not $249, but $279.  If you can find one for $199, consider yourself lucky ... I wouldn’t get too excited about this news.

MacDevCenter: Goodbye PDA, Hello iPod?

str - the same could easily be said about Microsoft DOS through XP, their CE devices, and all the MS apps. So your statement is true about both and lame about both. It could also be said about most car companies too.

New iPod owners report "pops" or "clicks" between tracks

Interesting conspiracy theory, genius.  Why do Apple-haters always pop up on Apple-related community sites?

MacDevCenter: Goodbye PDA, Hello iPod?

Looks like you guys got “Appled”..  getting appled is likened to seeing perfection close at hand and then get socked in the gut… by the failure of apple to give you their best up front.  They cheated you initial new ipod buyers out of the better ipod that is coming in six months.  They could have given you the better one now….but decided not to on the basis of needing to fleece the public throughout a five year so called “development” phase.  All of the best features and best hardware is already in the apple shop…but it is for you to wait and wait and then rebuy the ipod over and over..  This causes revenue streams to widened and the stock to gain demand pressure.  Apple climbed from 13 to 18 bucks over the week on this release of the new inferior ipod.  By the time you get the ipod you want Apple will be trading at 56 bucks.

Cheers

iPod 20GB for PC for $279

Placed an order today at this price, I am also suspicious that the unit will never arrive. My order is currently displaying:

“Delayed Items - Currently one or more items are not available. Every effort is being made to complete your order.
Delayed 6/19/2003 - Sku:  A0066806 Quantity: 1 Description: 20 GB iPod MP3 Player For PC”

I hope I am able to get this, I MUCH prefer the gen1 and gen2 iPods over the gen3 iPod. For those of you in the same boat you may want to check out your local Target and Best Buy as they are also clearing out gen2 iPods at $199/10Gb and $299/20Gb.

Good Luck!

Classic iPod owners' frustration with Apple makes headlines

Some people are happy with whatever life (and Apple) throw at them while others feel that they can have some influence on their destiny.  If people like “low-fi” are happy with the features that they have on their earlier generation iPod now, perhaps they will refrain from downloading any future firmware updates to conserve precious bandwidth for the rest of us.

KBase Docs: Touch-sensitve buttons and iPod software chart

And 1.3 still isn’t out for Windows iPods, although that chart doesn’t seem to mention it.

hmm. this whole software compatibility chart is a bit more official than Gayle’s post in the discussions, but it is also sort of ominous. I was optimistic, but I’m starting to wonder if 1.3 will indeed be the final software update for older pods. Still no whys, just cold hard facts. boo hiss.

iPod 20GB for PC for $279

They seem to be out of stock, and are reporting that this won’t ship until 6/18, which seems suspicious. On the other hand, they were reporting the same thing before they lowered the price from $450 to $350 so maybe they actually will get more. Anyone have any idea about this?

Classic iPod owners' frustration with Apple makes headlines

It’s not that I’m not satisfied with the iPod.  I plan to keep using it until it dies or something compels me to buy something else.  I’m just not satisfied with Apple.  Just as they’re well within their rights to do what they’re doing, I’m well within my rights to not like their attitude and factor that in the next time I’m shopping.  That’s really all there is to it.

MacDevCenter: Goodbye PDA, Hello iPod?

I, too, switched from a PocketPC (which I sold for $80 under what I should have so I could afford the iPod at the launch, thus getting the geeky tee shirt).  The only thing I really miss is the video support.  The huge capacity, and portability, and the _SUBTLTY_ of the iPod, make it a much better alternative.  It looks like an appliance, and not a device.  It has a few functions which it performs well, vs. a thousand functions poorly implemented.  If the pocketpc folks could spend the effort coming up with an input method as easy to use as the scroll wheel, they’d have a million seller.

iTunes Music Store Sells Over One Million Songs in First Week

Tell you what Apple is going to gain with all this activity. I have been using Windows PC’s for over a decade…never owned a Mac. in the last week I purchased an iPod and now Apple hardware has me hooked. I am considering purchasing an iBook or PowerBook so I can try out the “dark side” smile

yes, I am over it, I am SOOO over it…

But the more I research, the more it seems the features could be on my ipod if apple removed a version checking line of code and recompiled the firmware.

Get. Over. It. I am an “old” iPod user, and I am not at all disgruntled. The iPod STILL performs the same tasks and STILL plays music! It is not like they are taking features away.

Get over it. If you don’t like it, lump it. If you weren’t satisfied with the iPod in the first place, why the heck did you buy one? If you aren’t satisfied now because a new model came out, then stop letting the green eyed envy monster get a hold.

Because it’s being artificially tied to expensive hardware.

Apple doesn’t owe us the software.  But I can certainly be upset that they’re snubbing their old user base not because they have to, but because they want us to buy everything all over again as if we were new customers.

Video: Live On Stage at The Grove in LA

Yeah. Too many different transitions. And some KB effect would be sweet! Hell, just not having the black around the pictures would be nice.

Decent production, otherwise, though.

Toast Converts Protected AAC to AIF

Forget it, I figured it out. Toast automatically converts the MP4 to AIFF and places it in “converted items” inside the User > documents folder.

Nice.

Toast Converts Protected AAC to AIF

Wait - how can you “save as AIFF” without burning the CD? I wasn’t able to do anything other than burn a CD.

Being able to save as AIFF would be useful… rather than having to burn the CD, then rip it.

MacDevCenter: Goodbye PDA, Hello iPod?

And by the way. While temporary play lists are good. A song queue would be even better.

A song queue would allow me to manually pick several songs directly on the iPod and then would automatically play them back in the order that I pick them. Each song would disappear when it finished.

MacDevCenter: Goodbye PDA, Hello iPod?

What I REALLY want is to be able to connect a mini keyboard to my new iPod. Something like the thumb keyboard that are out there for Palm Pilots. That way I could add/modify/delete contacts, appointments, and notes directly on my iPod and I wouldn’t need my Palm anymore. As an added bonus. The iPod is smaller.

iRemote Concept for iPod

Yes! Yes! Yes! I have been thinking of the exact same thing! This would allow you to put your iPod in the trunk of your car and still control it! Yes!
