Apple.com has published an end-of-Macworld wrap up page with Apple press releases, photos galleries, product announcements and reactions from several media outlets. Note: there is also an official MUSICMATCH press release about Jukebox.
First Take: New iPod
MacNN has a first take reaction to the new iPod, accessories and features.
“The new, solid-state wheel mechanism feels smooth and glossy. Presumably because the iPod’s control is now immobile, the center button’s click is more refined and overall construction quality is improved.”
Hardware: iTrip FM Transmitter for iPod
MacMinute has a report from the Expo on Griffin Technology’s iTrip. It’s an FM transmitter that attaches directly to the iPod via the FireWire port. Unlike other FM transmitters the iTrip provides over 100 frequencies available from within the U.S. and over 250 frequencies internationally. The frequencies can be chosen from a list on the iPod’s LCD display. This is the first software developed from a third party vendor that installs onto the iPod. The iTrip uses the iPod for power and Griffin Technology insures us that the power drain is minimal. Griffin is stll working on the final version and expects to ship in September for $29.99.
How does the iPods new scroll wheel work?
MacMinute reports on the new scroll wheel and how it works.
“Apple’s new 10GB and 20GB iPod models features a touch-sensitive scroll wheel that’s “simply cool… and it works,‘commented Robin Stephens of Boston, Massachusetts—an attendee at Macworld Expo in New York this week. “But how does it work?’”
