ITS AN IPOD!!!! WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU HAVE MORE EXPENSIVE HEADPHONES THAN YOUR IPOD!!?? these headphones have NOTHING to do with the ipod! its like 4 times the price of an ipod!
im just fine with my earbuds!

please people: if you have nothing constructive to add to the discussion, make the effort, go the extra mile and STFU!
and no, 50$ earbuds do not even sound reasonable compared to UE-10s... That's like saying a 1787 Chateau Lafite (~$160,000)is comparable to a Chateau Musar 1996 (~$30) - which, might i elaborate, it isn't.

I bought a pair of UE10s a few weeks back. Despite moving to CA from NV during the order/delivery period the UE folks at UE were super. I had molds made in the UK and posted these. I got the UEs delivered to me when I wasstaying in CA. I was concerned that the molds weren't as good as they should be. No quality problems were raised by UE though. And when I took delivery of the 'phones the fit was great. Since then I've used them quite a bit.
They are accurate in their sound.
They do "unseal" in the canal if I smile broadly. If they're cold they take a minute or two to settle in. Aside from that they are ideal.
I moved to these from Shure E3Cs. I thought the Shures were OK, but I notice how anemic they are when I listen with the UE10s.
Isolation is AOK. When I take them out I realise how loud the outside world really is. This makes me content with the isolation I get from them.
Are they worth that much more than UE5s? I don't know. I wasn't willing to take the chance. I know I won't find anything better.
Recommended if you do want the ultimate 'phones.

John, I would not get the E3Cs if you like bass. Consider the Shure E5Cs or the UE5EB.

I started off with a pair of Koss Portapro's, then progressed to Etymotics ER4P's (I also have the cable that converts them to the ER4S). Then I ordered a pair of UE10 Pro's. That was a year ago and since then I have acquired a pair of Grado RS1's, and a pair of UE Super.fi pro's, which incidently, are UE5 Pro's in a universal fit version. I can say that with every pair of cans I listen to other than the UE10's, there seems to be something missing which I cannot put my finger on. When I listen to my UE10's piped through my Sugden Headmaster amp, I feel blessed to be able to afford such a perfect sound........believe me when I say that there is nothing on earth that produces such a perfectly faithful and utterly satisfying reproduction of sound. The UE10's are awesome straight out of the ipod, but stunning when plugged in to a quality amplified source. When Ultimate Ears announce that they have a better product than this (which seems impossible), I will be first in line. How can you put a price on perfection?
