i have the impression ventilation is important for the ipod. I take it that the STM may not be good in heat dissipation. Yes, No , Full of Sh!t?

STM Cocoon's are now available at http://www.iPodXtras.com
I dont think that it will stop heat ventilation... The inner case is thin enough that it doesnt really stop usability or heat ventilation... It allows pretty much normal use!

Does it fit the iPod mini?

Posted by Laura on June 21, 2004 at 1:03 AM (PDT) Comment 26

I know that STM has the iPod mini clear Skin... but i think the case is custom designed for the bigger iPods

Can I easily attach my Shure E2 to my iPod with this case? Also can I use my iSkin Exo2 instead of the plastic sheath? Last question, can the Shure E2 case fit inside the accessory pouch?

Can someone clarify whether the iPod will still fit into the dock if it's in its smaller, inner sheathe?

Posted by Marleigh on July 6, 2004 at 1:16 PM (PDT) Comment 29

yep.. the ipod will fit if it's in its smaller sheathe:

Contrary to what's written above, the iPod does *not* fit into the Apple dock when in the inner sheath.

Found another place in the US for these: laptoptravel.com - they're great to work with, and they ship everywhere.

Hi can anybody tell me where I can buy this case in Germany, ot tell me a good retailer in Europe that has not too high shipping costs??

Does anyone know if an iPod with an iSkin Exo/Evo on will still fit inside the Cocoon? I don't like STM's plastic case so I'd like to combine the Cocoon and an iSkin silicon case.

Posted by Suspense on August 2, 2004 at 7:55 PM (PDT) Comment 37

Yeah, Ive used my iskin exo/evo inside the cocoon. It fits well, but obviously isnt secure compared to the STM one as its missing the velcro. But it is a good fit.

Man i hate that hole on the bottom...i'm sure it lets in dust and stuff in there that not need be in there :- anyway to cover it? The one on the top i understand but the bottom one is pointless i say grin

hey I've had my cocoon for about a month, things are fine no probs, great outer case that is going to keep my 4G pod nice and safe for my europe trip and beyond.

Couple of thoughts though:

1. before I shelled out the dosh, I rang STM who told me that they would be more than happy to send out a free 4th gen inner to the shop I bought the cocoon from originally, as this was my major misgiving about buying the product. Havent heard anything more from them about this; has anyone else run into the same prob/issue?

2. I gots to thinking, and (it hurts it hurts make it stop!) and thought, why not get a proper iskin and sew the velcro piece on to the back of it, thus rendering it useable with the case. Any ideas as to whether this will work or not, or any other ideas along the same lines?

'Part from that, I've got no complaints, and it beats shelling out double the price for the Matias 3G armour...

hmm sounds great, I think I'll grab myself one tomorrow. And the good thing about it is that it's in Aussie shops... one's only 10 mins away from where I am... no more going on bloody US sites and ordering it through US stores, then paying an incredibly high postage and handling fee... now its the American people who will have to do what I've been doing whenever I want a good product...

Gabi

Just got sent my 4G skin in the mail (MASSIVE THANKS TO STM WHO CAME THROUGH WITH THE GOODZ AS PROMISED...VERY IMPRESSED!) and there is no change in material or design, apart from obviously only having the scroll wheel part open.

Plus I totallly agree about the bottom hole. Git rid of it already!
