It works with 4th gen 20GB. It will not work with 4th gen 40GB because of the thickness difference from 4th Gen 20GB.

As noted in the updated review, Pacific Rim clarified that this unit does work with certain (thin 20GB) 4G iPods, but not the 40GB ones.

Can someone confirm that the audio output is line-level and NOT controlled by the iPod volume control? I assume this is so, but the use of the headphone icon on the back of the dock makes me wonder.......
