BTI finally responded to me stating that the Battery II would work but there is not holder for the 5g in that setup. A new BTI Battery to work with the 5G is about three weeks away. I follow up with a questions regarding music versus video hours of play and I'm waiting to see if they reply.

I read however, that it will not charge the internal battery of the 5G

The BTI Battery II will hold the 5G 60 gig iPod (well, kind of) if you use the 30/40 case on the battery.

It's not the firmest of fits so may not be suitable for jogging etc, but it does the job elsewhere

I have this battery and have used it for about 18 months with my 3rd generation 20 gig. I just decided to upgrade to a video ipod and no longer need the battery pack since it has a better battery life. It has been great and very useful for international traveling. I get at least 40 hours out of it, usually more.

The main reason to buy the battery at this point is its exit price, which seems to be around $20-30. The cradles are a joke for anyone who uses skins and cares about their iPod getting scratched; none of them fit, not even a 30/40G cradle holding a 10GB 3G in the thinnest #### skin available.
At the office, I keep the iP-B02 in a 4G iSkin sleeve with my iPod resting on top of it and my amp/dac underneath. The sharp edges of the battery without the cradle require special protection for the iPod, hence the sleeve.
