I have a 2nd Gen Green 4G mini. My PC kept crashing every time I tried to load CD's into itunes. I don't know if this is my PC's problem or the ipod. Any tricks for uploading. As for burned CD's you can't get super tagging info online, you 'll have to type in your own data in itunes. It's not a big deal though. What is the difference between a firewire connction and USB (sorry for the ignorance)?
BTW-I love the green mini-pink is just too over the top girly for me. Although, I just bought a 6G silver mini and will give the green one to my son

To Andreakat : I had the same problem with CD who made iTunes crash. I've found out after some google search that this could be caused by some "non-english character" in your Windows XP User name. My name was Rémi (i got an accent) so there was an accent in the path to the iTunes folder in "My Documents". I had to create another user in XP (without the "é" in my name) to make it work, (since changing the user name doesn't change the my document folder path).

I have recently sold my 1st G mini partly because i crack my screen and they ask for a full $250 charge repair, which pissed me off, then i see the 2nd G mini with the 18 hr battery life.
I thought, maybe life is better after all.
But after a bit of research, my hopes seems to drain down to hell.I mean no ac adapter is the @#$est thing i have ever heard.
I love mini, I love its functions, I love apple's desining team, but i think apple's management and sales are the worst people ever!
At the end, i think creative zen micro is the best subsituted, if you felt the same way i do about 2nd G mini.
And no, this ain't a advertisment for creative.
More competition creates better products!

with the drop of the firewire cable and in some ways the drop of the AC adapter, i think that apple is trying to make the iPod mini appeal to the eyes of avid PC users. i can say this because i am an avid pc user and it is highly appealing to me, because i simply dont need the firewire card, and if thats the only reason that its cheaper (despite the drop of the AC adapter, which i again dont need) then i dont mind, because cheaper is cheaper as long as the reason its cheaper doesnt effect the end-user, in this case me.

I took my shuffle back and invested in a 6GB Mini. Since then I've been enjoying the heck out of it.
By leaving out certain accessories Apple leaves the options up to the consumer for choosing the accessories that would best suit ones needs. The majority of the computers on the market are equipped with powered USB ports than firewire. My laptop, even when it's working on the battery, charges the mini through the USB 2.0 in less than six hours. So there's no sense in making someone pay extra for accessories that'll just end up sitting in their desk drawer. If you need to charge up your ipod on long out of town trips or you're deadset on uploading through a firewire connection, then sorry to say, you'd have to go out and invest in a charger or cable.
As for the mini it's awesome. Good sound (when using good earphones), well built good quality and a wide variety of aftermarket accessories. I liked the little "Enjoy" note printed on the software package included in the box. Makes you feel like Apple actually cares about the person who purchased their product.
I have to thank Apple for not making the iPod just a "Mac" thing. By making it PC compatible users such as myself can use it. Versatility sells.
I give it an A+ in my book. It's a neat little gadget.
If you're heartbroken over missing accessories or the allowance of PC users to to partake in owning one. Simply get over it. Some people prefer Fords over Chevy's. Doesn't make them bad people

Yes, you can have Podcast on your iPod Mini. Podcast are simply normal AAC files.

help needed....
i was waiting for the apple event at the 7th hoping for a new mini... and we got the nano, dont get me wrong, i like it loads, but honestly i dont need sth that small, and that fragile... i was longing for the same mini with a color screen, but seems thats not the case, so my question is how fragile is the mini, since apple wont make them anymore, in there form ( aluminium ).. i like to get one fast, so can it handle a bit of rough action, am not talking drop it from the top of the stairs kind of thing, just normal everyday use... thx for anyone...
