These speakers seems clunky and bulky...maybe i am just used to square type speakers (seems more compact)...but these dont appeal to me.

Man, if it doesn't fit in a suitcase, why not just capitulate to quality and do the Bose SoundDock?? It is the only one-piece solution I have heard that is worth a damn.

I do travel quite a bit with the Tivoli PAL and my iPod - it is boxy, but fits pretty nicely in a suitcase. Mono sound, but great tonality (though inferior to the larger Bose). I can't see a reason for any of these portables if they aren't at least as good as the Tivoli.

BTW, Tivoli now has a much "flatter" travel radio (SoundBook) that is probably even a better travel choice than the PAL.

Brad: This isn't a portable solution. No one should think about packing this away and carrying it around. And the person who spends $300 on a SoundDock is a totally different consumer from the one who spends $70 (or less) on these.

I really don't think these speakers look cheap at all. There are lot's of different categories in speaker systems for iPods, these aren't your 180-dollar Altecs, your 300-dollar Bose or finally the 400-dollar Klipsch iFi's.. These speakers are designed for the price-conscious shoppers out there that don't really mind mediocre sound.
