I can't help but just dig the concept. To me it's one part having the buttons on the top and half not wearing out the headphone jack on the ipod itself. Couldn't nyko have squeezed in an RF along with it though?

perfect for use with the ipod socks

Does anyone know when/if any RF remotes will come out or already have come out? I'm interested smile

Better than Apple's for some purposes: no cable annoyance!

I wanted one when I first saw it... then I realized that my iPod's clickwheel works great THROUGH its case AND my pocket at once. So I just use the controls from the outside.

Something like this would actually make the Apple case that came with my 3g usefull.

I agree with AC. I'll definitely watch for this when the apple store has them as I use that case more now then any other one I own. Because it doesn't scratch anything! wooot.

I like this better than the remote as well. I don't need/want the extra cable, but I'd like some control over the iPod when it's clipped to my belt.

Is this shipping soon? I'm anxious to pick one up.

Would be cool if they came out with a mini version...

...Although, I probably wouldn't use it if they did, as I already have on of Apple's Remotes...

As mentioned above, you can control most functions though your shirt pocket. I was adjusting the volume though my shirt the other day, and I realised how goofy I looked, rubbing a circle over my left nipple!

YuleLogger - The wheel works fine through jeans as well, EVEN in a RadTech sleeve. But doing so looks even worse!

Posted by Nagromme on March 15, 2005 at 1:34 PM (PDT) Comment 11

I actually like it. I'm tired of plugging in and out my remote cable to remove it from my Timbuktu sleeve to change the play list. And then finding out I can't control the iPod with the remote until I plug it in with the hold button set to on.

People don't talk much about the iPod's controls. I think the design (both 3G & 4G) is quite lacking. The scroll wheel is nice for cycling through many tracks. But the location of the other buttons, and the rather poor design of the remote (needs some tactile way to distinguish the buttons and/or need to be more easily manipulated).

What I need is a way to move to the next playlist or artist (or go back one playlist) so that I don't have to pull it out of the #$%#$% sleeve - and do the plug/unplug.

I had mine in the left butt pocket of my jeans yesterday and I really hope nobody saw me adjusting my volume.

Richard- A better place to post stuff your selling is in the forums under the classified section. Comments in sections such as these are supposed to be about the products.

yeah I want one.

Posted by Z17 on March 18, 2005 at 11:14 AM (PDT) Comment 15

i dont think this should be given a lower grade because it doesnt replicate as well a functionality of something its not trying to replicate, that is, this isnt a worse accessory because it doesnt have a cord, its not trying to be an inline remote. thats like downgrading an ipod cassette-to-stereo accessory because its bad a doing what the griffin itrip does: just because they serve the same general function doesnt mean a difference in form or method makes one worse than the other.

its reasonable to, for example, give one silicone case a lower grade than another if it protects less well, even if the less good one does it in a different way, because theyre suppoed to do exactly the same thing. these products dont. i wouldnt use an inline remote, but i definitely might use this.

Have you already gotten this thing then? I like the sound of it cause I keep my iPod in the holder that apple sells, and this would be perfect for the functions I need.

Finally, ipod volume control that does not require either bare fingers or 3' of cable!

I've been wanting volume buttons on the ipod since the first day I got one (particularly in winter when wearing gloves) but didn't want to carry a remote. Can't wait to try this.

Now if they'll just make a mini iTop!

Posted by beansong on April 5, 2005 at 10:46 PM (PDT) Comment 21

I got bit twice, once with the Air Click and now with the RELOCATOR. When I move the Hold switch on the Relocator, I get a pause - when I adjust the volume I get a pause. Even with the IPod on Lock. Mine fits extremely loose. Very poor design. I am going to stick with Apple Designed accessories. Don't waste your money! Buy some ITunes instead.

Posted by granvillen on May 5, 2005 at 4:08 PM (PDT) Comment 22

Awesome concept, I couldn't wait to get one. Works fine, BUT, for some reason it is draining my iPod's battery when it is unused. I cannot leave it sitting for a day with the iTop connected...the battery will be completely empty!

I have a message into Nyko's support email so we'll see if this is normal.

Posted by buymenow00 on May 26, 2005 at 6:42 PM (PDT) Comment 23

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! this product does not work. Buttons are flimsy and fit with ipod is not secure. I had problems with this unit from the beginning, first the volume would increase all the way up or all the way down with one click of the volume button. The buttons also get crossed up, pause seems to occur with every other click of any button. After about a day of messing with it the thing just failed all together and stopped responding. Returned it as quick as I could.

GREAT product. Performs PRECISELY as advertised and it's styled to match the iPod BEAUTIFULLY. My only complaint is that it's nearly impossible to find a store that sells these. I was lucky enough to get one on clearance for $7.99 though
