I like this product & I think it is a case by definition ( decorative or protective cover )

My Shuffle is used as a Go Anywhere device & has stood up to normal daily use, if it didn't, I would have issues with Apple for selling a fragile device.

I agree that it SHOULD be termed as a case. For some reason, looking at Jeremy's past reviews, he only believes it's a case if it's a tank and not even a speck of dust can touch the iPod. I agree that it may not offer as much protection as some of the other one's we've seen, but since the shuffle is essencially a $99 stick of gum, I don't think apple intended it to be safeguarded by a hunk of aluminum. If you are really that careless with your devices that you need a thick aluminum case to protect your device, I think there are new problems.

I love the look of these things. They're very crisp and clean looking. I don't want or need a vault of aluminium encasing my shuffle, i want to be able to see it. These cases nicely accent the beauty and design of the shuffle and add a some colour and vibrancy to it. I'll get one, if i can find it in the UK that is...

Mad_kow: First, we've already received an e-mail from Marware this morning indicating that any of their classifications of Sport Grip as a "case" (such as the text on the box we received, and perhaps their web site's listing of Sport Grip under the category "cases") were accidental and are going to be changed. Though the box said otherwise, they're currently saying they don't consider it a case. Make of that what you will.

Second, your theory about our reviews isn't borne out by the facts. We've reviewed nine shuffle cases at this point, and the "tank"-like aluminum Exopod scored lower than a well-made silicone rubber case. We consider a number of factors in all of our reviews (and generally explain them); a combination of great protectiveness and great practical usability are key to earning a top rating. If you take a look at the report card in the Buyers' Guide, you'll note that few metal cases for -any- iPod have ever broken the B+ threshold on iPodlounge. And we've given plenty of A/A- grades to cases that don't seal out dust.

Third, people can make their own decisions about how much protectiveness and/or control access they do or don't want in a case; we just put the information out there and render our opinion on how a given one performs relative to the numerous other products we've seen. Just like iPodNod, we think these cases look really good. But we take more than looks into account in our reviews and ratings.

Great idea even though it may not be a real "case". FWIW I was ready to buy a couple of these until I went to the Marware website and placed my order, needless to say I declined quickly when I saw the exorbitant shipping fees, something this small should only cost a couple $$ to ship, not almost the same cost as the product you are buying :(
