Thanks for the review. I didn't know these were available as non-usb now. I've had the usb ones on my macs for the past five years or so. You know that the feet on the satellites fold down and back, so you can adjust the angle however you want? I think these are some of the best-looking objects out there, and they quickly become a point of focus in your home.

I used to have the stand-alone iSub, and I loved the thing. However, I avoided buying the actual speakers because they sounded terrible. It seems like they've improved their sound.

I got these a few months after they introduced the soundsticks II, and didn't need the silly USB connection. I must say, they're pretty good, especially as far as computer speakers go!

I purchased a refurbished set of these about 6 months ago on eBay. Couldn't be happier.

Costco, in Santa Barbara at least, is carrying these for $119.99.

Anyone know how I can connect ipod mini to the soundsticks system? I have had these speakers for about 2-3 years, so I don't know if I have II or not...they work directly with my powerbook but I never use them there so would like to take to the porch (or on vacation) to use with the ipod.

Hi
I have the USB Soundsticks which I have attached to my iMac, and I love them, except, they don't do piano well sometimes, distorting sometimes (maybe its the soundcard in the Mac???). They do electronic music nicely and have a nice presence. Came onto this site to check out the JBL Creature 11's but seems I have already a slightly better speaker so will feel happy with what I have.
Cheers

Haha, they make these in non-USB now?

I've had the original, USD SoundSticks for ages. I found the subwoofer/amplifier to be nice but the actual 'sticks' to be kind of dodgy (though apparently they sound better in this version) -- for the past few years I've had the subwoofer rigged up to output to two speakers in my wall instead and it sounds awesome.

I have the old Soundsticks and always found it to be an aesthetic flaw the 3-cables hookup of the iSub, of an otherwise clean design. I see it remains on the STII.

Apple makes 1-cable hookup of their other product, why not this one?!!

It's too much clutter back there. Unclean. Dissapointed.

Also, the STII satellites have gray cables instead of the original's translucent. This is a step backward IMO.

Hey guys i just discovered these speakers and are seriously considering buying them ($110 on Amazon). I was just wondering what kind of cords and stuff does this come with to connect ipods to. I was thinkin auxillary but i am not shure.

Does anyone know whether STII bought in the USA can be easily adapted to 220-240V in other countries (using a voltage adapter for example)?
