This seems quite annoying to me as i got the original u2 ipod last year, and as a fan of u2, this special edition seems like its gone over the top, since it was meant to only be a special edition ipod, they should have only stuck to one model, which should make it a 'special' edition. The upgrade may seem to make the screen better but i don't feel it is a genuine u2 product, although it may have the bands signatures, u2 with their albums only release it after they are happy with it. At least if apple were going to release the u2 ipod they should have done it this year when they were comfortable with the coulor screen and not make people such as myself who bought this ipod feel gutted. It seems to me that apple have ruined a special edition by making a u2 item all too commercial.

This should have been the iPod Coldplay Special Edition.

Seriously, U2??? Hell, even New Order would have been better (at this moment that is).

I wish you could customize the colors on your screen.

Kill the U2 model PLZ!!! THINK DIFFERENT (where have it heard that one before?)

GorillaPodz with Feel Good inc would of turned a good profit since if you buy the freakin CD it won't rip in iTunes so you go to apple to get that junk on your iPod :(

But Please Go Away U2, it had its shinnig moment...

I think apple is going to pull four new ones for us on the 5G debut. I think apple will... smile

1. give us iTunes 5,
2. I heard apple placed a bunch of orders of 80GB drives (double platter) and the 40gb and the 60gb (will be single plater) making it the size of the 20GB, so perhaps the 5G iPod (XXSomthingXX) will be a 80GB,
3. I think a 3G 8GB mini (color screen maybe)
4. 2G Shuffle with LCD in 2GB and 4GB

I sure wish apple would make a PDA... But pretty much I think apple is doing a pricing game for a reason I have a feeling that apple is doing the 20BG for $299/ 60GB $399 so people will say "hey for $100 more I can triple my size " thus Dumping the old dual plater 60GB and for the new 5g Apple will give us a slim 40GB/60GB and add the 80GB

I noticed this when the iPhoto was offered in a 30GB. My assumtion was that apple had a bunch of 30GB drives from the rare 3G 30GB that didn't sell as much

Plus I hope that for the 5G the battery is 20hrs or more. my Ipod moves with me alot, from school to the car to work and back it looks at 2 to 3 full charges a day just to stay juiced up with me.

I think some of you are confusing Special Edition with Limited Edition, the whole idea of the U2 iPod is to reach into a new market. As the Rumor Mill suggest more Special Editions are on there way, namely a Codplay version. They will do this to entice fans of the Bands to buy another iPod to show their devotion to the Band.

Seriously people, stop dissing U2, I mean fair enough you like different bands but these guys have stood the test of time, I mean call me crazy but I cant see "Gorrilaz" who have like 3 hits being around in 20 years playing at live concerts such as the live 8 one recently,I mean there represented my cartoons?? Sorry, I mean I like U2 and gorilaz but stop dissing U2, Apple obviously wouldnt be selling the ipod if people wernt buying it. Well thats my 2 cents worth, you dont have to agree.

I just got my new color screen U2 iPod about 10 minutes ago, It is uploading my iTunes as we speak. It is beyond cool. I dont know why people are upset because they made the color version of this. I guess it because they want to see NEW models. But who is to say Apple wont come out with new band special edition iPods and just have a line of them, besides, it says iPod SPECIAL edition, not LIMITED edition. If you dont like it dont buy it, just stick to the normal iPod with color screen, but if you want a cool color scheme and dont want to spend alot of money on customization or Skins, just spen the extra 30 bucks. Now I am off to giggle in delight as my iPod uploads.

Hello. I recently (and by recently I mean February) my U2 iPod. I always thought that this iPod was missing color. Anyway, the day after Apple announced the new color screen U2 iPod I sold mine and tomorrow I'm getting the new U2 color iPod.

I think that this kind of Special Edition iPod (not to be confused with Limited Edition as Indie stated above) are very tricky to get out in the market. Why? Because the music taste is very different from one person to another... And the CD sales are down. The reason I'm comparing those two is because how are you going to sell an (for example) Elvis iPod in Latin America, Europe or Asia, where Elvis' success wasn't as Huge as it was in the US... Just an example... You need a very powerful band or artist, someone who's a trendsetter in every single way. U2 is that and much more. They are successfull for what... 25 years already? Just my 2 cents.

I can't wait to start uploading my music to the new iPod.

i have been searching for mp3's for a while now and i came upon the u2 and i love the color black but not a big fan of the red wheel. are the ipod's as good as people say they are? if they made a red hot chili peppers i-pod i would buy it. great band, over 20 years old. but i wish they sould come up with one soon. red hot chili peppers rock!

Most of Ya'll is wack. I personally don't like Rock, but I am getting this anyway. Just because of the color screen and the black & red. But for you who are upset because they made a color version. You are just mad, because you can't get this one. Now I ain't waitin for know 5G or anything. Because all I really want is a mp3 player that plays music. I don't mind the photo feature, but since it's there mine as well use it. But anyway, The Gorrillaz Suck, you gotta learn to listen to Rap/Hip-Hop & R&B not that Rock crap. Learn to like better music. Not the music were people scream and is all depressed like that gay guy in My Chemical Romance. He has a Chemical Romance because he can't find a real one. As for me, gotta listen to G-Unit, Eminem, P. Diddy, 2Pac and all of them. But for the U2 iPod, it's the coolest iPod I've seen yet.

Surely we all know WHAT this U2 edition is the precursor of??????????????

Apple is synching to the future with this little segway....instead of those annowing 'sets' of CDs on the shelves of stores, INSTEAD, apple will be there with IPODS full of the most established artists...you get ALL their best track and an IPOD to boot! U2 is just their first foray into this...

Jobs is no dummy, he will pump this up by getting music labels to defer part of the pricing of the ipods IF he agrees to exclusive contracts to carry their artists on IPODS for 'x' number of years.

Apple and Jobs are now at the top of their form.....I wonder??? Will the "Dolly" Pod have extra large controls???

Hasta la vista, Apple iPod U2 Special Edition (Color). Off to pasture, like so many generations before you.
