Jeremy -- is the "gradual wake" you mention for this product the same as on the iHome, which is to say zero to blisteringly loud in about 1.5 seconds, or have they fixed that horrific "feature"? Put differently, is the iPod wake volume user adjustable?

many thanks

oh, also -- is there some reason why the iLuv 177 radio/alarm unit has never been reviewed, despite being introduced here?

I made a comment in the forums about this system a few hours before this review came up. This system is currently on sale for $70 at ALDI's and I said that it would get a grade of A- at that price. Since it got a B+ at the $100 price, I was not too far off.

I like the sound that comes from this system - I turned it up fairly loud with no distortion. So many people tend to use so much bass that it changes the song dynamic. For the price of $70, and considering the system comes with both a carry case and remote (which also happens to function with my existing iH5 unit), I would highly recommend picking one up at ALDI's if you have one nearby if you need a decent portable system.

I was extrememly disappointed with this product. The bass was not just distorted a littly ... it is an annoying humming sound that occurs even in songs without strong bass. I really liked the concept of iH26 but strongly regret my decision to buy this product. Unfortunately I can not return it because I am sitting in the middle of the desert. Buyer beware.

This product is significantly bad. Any volume higher than two thirds will distort, I have better sound coming out of my mono clock radio (and at least that has a radio!). Remind me not to buy on ebay where I can't get a refund!
