I need to record therapist-client conversations with the microphone about 3 to 5 feet from the people speaking. Which microphone recording device would fit this need the best?

the tunetalk will definitely work at that distance. Particularly with "autogain" button pushed to the "on" position (very simple to do, sliding switch on bottom of unit). I just listened to a recording I made at just such a distance in an office and it is a really good, clear recording.

I bought one. While recording my band, it skips... YES, skips! It will just jump ahead a few seconds. Its not the playback, it is the recording. And this is while only recording a for a couple minutes.

Belkin just told me to update my firmware (it is current) and to use an internal battery (i was).

I searched the web looking for other people with the same issue -- i found some. One fella says update firmware - not the issue here. Another says reformat the iPod - my iPod is only a few weeks old and has barely been used.

I want this to work.

I have not experienced the skipping problem. I had a very successful 2+ hour recording session with the tunetalk and my ipod. did not use autogain, used an external stereo mic I made, and the recording is GREAT.

it's saids here this mic is compatible with iPod video 5G and iPod nano aluminum, but i saw it on the retail store, it only said it's for iPod video 5G only, is it true?

I have tried recording again with it plugged into the wall (charger brick>USB) and on low quality setting (22khz/MONO) --> STILL SKIPPING. I am noticing it is doing it right about 3:20 into each song; did it again right at 5:00...

I should note that I have the 5G 30gig iPod. I believe it isn't able to use its RAM in a way that makes for good recordings with a live band. I have read that the NANO doesn't have this problem.

Regardless, I shouldn't have to find this out the hard way. It appears to record acoustic things fine, but skips when having to deal with a full band. I feel ripped off.

It's either the fault of the iPod or the TuneTalk, but I haven't gotten a very good response from Belkin.

I have not experienced any skipping and have recorded quite a bit. took the unit to a live concert and have a perfect recording that is about 2 hours long. After converting to mp3 (with CDex, freeware) and then chopping into individual tracks (with mp3directcut freeware) I then ran the tracks thru mp3gain (freeware) to make them louder. Great recording, no skips. I may run the tracks thru audacity (freeware, again) to equalize them - the venue was a bit boomy and it is a bass-heavy recording. Otherwise, I am using one of the ipod's equalizers.

I'm also having a problem with skipping, even on short recordings (under 5 minutes).

I got my first TuneTalk in early January and noticed the skipping problem, so contacted Belkin Tech Support and they said that it sounded like a defect with the one I got. So, they said return it to them and they would send me out a new one. I got the replacement this week and tested it out by reading a 5 minute text and on playback the new one did the same skipping as the one I just returned. So, now I have to contact Belkin tech support again and I'm wondering whether I should even ask for another replacement if I'm just going to get a third one with the same problem.

I'm using it with a 5G 30GB video iPod that has at least 15GB of free space. Is this a problem with my iPod (which functions perfectly otherwise) or am I just having bad luck with the TWO TuneTalks I've tried?

i also have a 30 GB ipod and my tunetalk is skipping all the time. every 30 seconds or so. way more than the other guys. i even got a new ipod to see if that would fix the problem. my girlfriend has the same ipod and tunetalk and hers doesn't skip. what the hell is going on?

I am also having MAJOR skipping problems w/ my TuneTalk.

Surveying the websites I see LOTS and LOTS of people having the skipping problem, but no useable advice.

Is anyone concerned?

B-E-L-K-I-N... are you reading this??? Could you publish a fix, please?

Hey guys,

Regarding the skipping. I spoke to someone at Belkin and told them I was having the same problem and what they told me was to do a "restore" of my iPod. Basically erase it and re-istall everything. Its easy to do when you connect your iPod to your iTunes (look for the button that says "restore")

Once I did that, the skipping problem was gone and now it works like a charm!

Hope it helps!
