Any idea if it the Apple Remote will work when using the iPod Universal Dock and this adapter?

I have a 5G iPod which is showing it's age and I've been thinking about buying a Shuffle.
This would be a major decision point for me.

Do I read this article correctly in that it would be of no value to the Bose Soundock Speaker system?

The Apple Remote doesn't control the shuffle's volume, tracks or play/pause features; it only adjusts the volume of speakers it is connected to. As it turns out, the Adapter does work with the Sounddock, and the article has been updated to note this.

it adds a ton o' value to the Bose Sounddock. I'm using it right now and with a simple extension cord hack, i'm able to now use external audio sources with the Sounddock. all it needs is to keep the switch on the audio side and find either an 1/8" coupler or an audio extension cable with a female end. You may need to find one that has a rubberish female end, so you can hack it as needed. I'm using the one that came with my quietcomfort 2 headphones. Now, my sounddock is my computer speaker

I am just wondering if this adapter will work in the Apple Universal Dock?
Thanks for your advice!
