Hearing Components Comply foam tips are the most comfortable I have used. Frankly, Shure oughta' abandon all the others and simply provide both sizes in their original packaging. I've been through two custom fittings and all the other types-these are the best for comfort and seal. Additionally, by far the best customer service by truly caring staff. Try 'em-they will change your listening experience, especially with the Shure 500 PTH.

How are these tips any different from the orangey-pink shaped foams that Etymotic have been selling for years?

One issue I had with the sample I was given to try on my E500 was the tightness of the actual plastic core of the tip - it went onto the E500s ok but I had to destroy the tip to removed it. In the end the foam separated from the core and it took several minutes twisting and pulling to remove the core off the E500 sound bore.
Not a good thing if you wished to remove the tips for cleaning.
This issue was pointed out to the Bob Oliveira of HC HERE

I purchased both sizes (small and regular). They easily slid onto my E500s. I have taken them off a couple of times to experiment with which size is best without any problem. Actually they were easier to replace then the yellow foam ones originally supplied. I don't know about the "orangey-pink" ones from Etymotic, but the Comply ones pop into shape quicker and are extremely comfortable.
