SHOWCASE ROCKS!!!. i love it it protects my ipod perfectly. i have a 10gb ipod and have to use the foam insert and i like it better that way, but some people dont. so this is for you people that dont. when you buy the showcase there is a cardboard picture of the ipod inside the showcase, so i took the cardboard picture and cut off the part that looked like the back of the ipod, and i cut it to fit so it would fit under the foam insert and it looks great! see if this helps.

machead89, that is a great idea to put the picture of the ipod under the foam. I went one step further and scanned the back of my ipod because there's some custom engraving on the back. You can't see all the engraving through the window on the back, but you can see some, so that's pretty cool.

I'm on my second Showcase so far. I returned the first one because it caused very small gouges in the screen. To Contour's credit, they quickly replaced it. Unfortunately, the replacement is doing the same thing on my 40gig iPod. I got smart this time, though: I installed a Javo screen protector, so it is being scratched rather than my iPod. The Showcase is definitely the best-looking and most protective iPod case I know of, but it has a significant flaw. As far as button access goes, I prefer the recessed effect of the Showcase. It prevents accidental activation without having to lock the unit.

Also, the Contour Showcase is dishwasher safe as I just discovered today! This is the best case I've used by far. I agree with Paul. Perfect case creation. The clear plastic could be a little thinner, but other than that it's fantastic

I just got one for the 4G.
the rubber inset is a ring now so you can now see the lovely back without obstructions. i got a 20GB and that baby is not making one rattle. also it was $29.95. i just got it today and already i feel very secure with it. kudos contour.

i don't see how the plastic front could scratch the screen....
there's four stoppers in the front that keeps the ipod secure and away from the plastic screen.

IMPORTANT--TWO PROBLEMS to be aware of with this case only reveal themselves a few weeks after purchase. First, the soft rubbery material on the outside of this case LOVES dirt. It gets smudged and soiled looking very quickly. I don't mind washing the case regularly, but it never returns to mint condition. Second, the hinge is absolutely the Achilles heel. Without falling, its tiny plastic hinges have still snapped, and now I have two choices: rubberband or tape. Otherwise a very sleek design. Buy it if you don't mind re-purchasing it every 6 months or so.

Compact, great looks and great protection. I only wish I had it before I scratched the screen. It would be even better if the belt clip could be rotated.

Not a big fan of the Contour design for 3G iPods. Happen to drop my iPod from less than 3 feet onto a linoleum floor and BLAMMO! DOA! My ipod is dead and a Apple repair estimate came back at $255, really? I buy a case for protection and find out later from the manufacturer http://www.contourdesigns.com) that they only "warranty" the case, not what the case was designed to hold? Huh? C'mon? Really? And then I'm informed that the packaging doesn't state anywhere to be able to protect my iPod from drops? Really, then why is the case made out of hard plastic, why is there a locking mechanism on it to stop it from opening up? What is the case for "scratches"?? C'mon who cares about a "scratch" when if the hard plastic case can't protect the iPod from a accidental drop from less than 3 feet? I would never by this product again, I'll go top shelf and buy something the pretty much guarantees it will protect the item it was designed for.
