DLO TransPod 2003 | iLounge

DO NOT buy this product. I set up the trans pod and when i put my i pod in, the screen turned blue and the menu never came up. When i took the i pod out (after about 1 min) it was hot as hell and acting pretty screwy. It doesn't turn off when i hold down the play button, and the contrast seems pretty messed up.

in addition to the above now (1 day later) my i pod will not hold a charge, and now i have to send it out for servicing.

Let me start off by saying that anyone raving on this site not to buy this or it is horrible, is ENTIRELY WRONG. This is absolutely great. It works great, sounds EXCELLENT, just like CD quality, and it definitly worth the $90.

And if your thinking about how your going to mount it or where..dont worry. You dont have to mount it. You can just plug the cord into cigarette lighter and then plug the other end of the cord into the transmitter, slide your Ipod in and you can hold it in your hands, your lap or on the seat. I like this much more because i can just pick it up as if it wasnt hooked up to anything instead of pointing my finger out, glaring at the screen b/c it is mounted and you cant see anything.

As for people saying it is static and hissing, all you got to do is just change to a different station. This is an absolute must for people that have systems and play songs all the time in their car. It sounds great with my 4 12's.

Out of all the trannmiters out there is this the one to buy, any sugestions? Also maybe there are certain conditions for the transmitter to work, eg. Flat open areas. Your areial also may have to be on the front of your car. Any suggestions.

You guys ought to check this out: http://www.dvforge.com/podbuddy.shtml
(read the short article)

The Podbuddy FM looks to be better in every way than the Transpod. Slimmer, sleeker, better design, less parts. Just smarter, if you ask me. But DLO is keeping DVForge from releasing it due to a patent conflict, which DVForge does not have the money to legally dispute in court.

So they're offering to give the plans, research, and molds to DLO for a nominal price, but they're not interested! Gah!! So let's block a superior competitor's product from ever seeing life AND not ever make it ourselves. That's what a free market is all about.

Whether you love or hate the TransPod, you all ought to write to DLO and tell them to jump on this opportunity, it would make an incredible 3rd gen TransPod.

And by the way, no I'm not working for or representing DVForge, I just love well designed products.

Alright, looks like you CAN shoot the messenger.

Shortly after my rave, I did a little homework on DVForge, found this: http://www.macintouch.com/mactable.html which was posted by another iPL member, and now I take back everything I said. My bad.
