I like this type of case because it means I don't have to remove my Tough SKin case.

I see no reason why rechargeable NiMH batteries wouldn't work in this battery pack.

thanks AndyH...another question...can you use this battery pack "instead of" the iPod's internal battery, or does it not kick in until the internal battery is out of charge? Thanks!

Perhaps it's utilizing the USB charging, whereas the previous one was charging via Firewire which would cause more problems? Just a guess... in that plug of 16 connections, who knows which ones they're using... but good to hear it's not going to fry the iPod now.

Thought I would give kudos to the iPod Powerstick, which I bought from http://www.audio-outfitters.com. I opted to buy rechargeable AA NiMH 2300 mAH batteries from Maha Energy instead of using regular "Energizer" AA alkaline batteries.
To say that the Powerstick is a winner is an understatement! So far, my iPod photo 60GB has been playing continuously for 27.5 hours on the Powerstick. The iPod battery icon shows fully charged (with the AC plug inside the icon) and has been that way since I turned it on yesterday. The Powerstick will also charge the iPod (if necessary).
If you're looking for an external power source for you iPod (i.e. for those loooooonnnnnnggggg flights or for that trek through the Amazon), I highly recommend the iPod Powerstick. Way to go Audio Outfitters!

would buying the power stick from ipodworld.co.uk be ok, they get it from audio outfits, so will i get the newer working power stick?
i would buy the new BTI battery pack that take 4 AAs but i dont like that it wont work if the ipod battery is dead.
