What about placement of output? If the Griffin device was plugged into a wall outlet, the port would be underneath which would make location for a shuffle difficult. I can even imagine situations where the shuffle would not fit because of clearance.
Also, what about international usage? Apple's device has interchangeable plugs (in Europe at least). And I can take it to the US and use a standard AC power cable too. Can you do that with the Griffin?

i think it is better if your in the US and want to charge a shuffle, just plug it in upside down, and viola, your shuffle is charging upright! and for international users, three words: Get an adapter!
also, this wont work with 3Gs because any USB charger will NOT work with 3Gs, heck, even apples doesnt work

I bought the same type AC Adapter from http://www.HandHeldItems.com
http://www.handhelditems.com/apple-ipod-mini-travel-charger-adapter-p-4211.html?osCsid=b9a37b022c29b3b660d3fc7a9707f972
It was only $5.99 and shipping was $1.85.
It did not come with the USB cable though.

The Griffin unit is an international adapter. Neither it nor the Apple unit come with international plugs; you can buy a kit for Apple's, or buy the ones you need for the Griffin from a store like Radio Shack. Re: upside down or not, you can turn it around in an outlet and have the shuffle sticking up.

Jeremy - I have just purchased a 30GB iPod video and as you know it has no wall charger. Do you think I have anything to worry about (by way of damaging my iPod) if I purchase a generic charger from an unknown manufacturer on ebay? They can be had for far less (more like $5)than the $49 they are charging at Canadian stores for the oem iPod charger.

Why spend $30 on a bulky travel charger when you can purchase an iGo device that will charge your iPod as well as your cell phone? And the more expensive iGo products will also charge your laptop.

how is that generic ac adapter working out?
i've also found handhelditems.com site and it sounds very promising. would it be possible to have review on this adapter? price is amazing but not totally sure about quality of product.

This is a more affordable alternative to the Apple model. It serves the same purpose and has the same features.

$10 cheaper and half the size of Apple's PLUS it comes with a USB cable, which syncs as well. I am more than pleased with my purchase.
