I'm guessing it plugs into the remote port so it can draw extra power for its in-line amplifier, but that prevents anyone from using the wired remote with it. hmm. oh well, I don't think I'd enjoy headphones made primarily for good bass anyway.

I actually bought a pair of these right after E3 and....... They wouldn't stay in my ears! The sound was pretty darn good for that price range, but they just didn't fit my needs. I listen to a lot of acoustic and classical, so these didn't fare very well. I would reccomend that if you want a pair of nicer cheap headphones with great clarity, get the white version of the philips surround sound earbuds. You can get them for less than $20 and they come with a pretty good case - plus they match the ipod. The sound is near the Earsubs only without any hiss and better acoustic properties and no annoying attachments to your ipod.

I got a pair of the Universal Ear Buds and they work great. I did not get a hiss or anything. The work reat with my 1G iPod and my home Stereo. Definately the best sound I have EVER found and the price is incredible. I think they were rated way to low.

Wow ! These earbuds are the best ive had so far. Ive tried the Sony's, etc and had the Koss Plug for the longest time till I came across these by reading the review above. All I can say is Wow ! Theyve taken my listening to another level. I have to admit being a bass freak. I listen to HipHop, and bass heavy grooves and rhythm and blues, jazz, etc.
It fits well despite being clunky and extends my pod battery life by a couple of hours. I suppose the high-end earbuds sound better but hey at $20 quit whining and load up.

I bought a set of these ear subs a month ago. I'm really pleased with the over all sound. I don't have the low level hissing noise mentioned in the review. I'm not sure but I think these ear subs get better sounding as the days go by.
